  • How do you get that sword?

  • Amon back in time...

  • Daaaaamn there was an amon back then too?

  • Looks pretty sweet i cant believe the dood has 3 lives thats BS!

  • this game's awesome. Sega should release it outside of Japan....

  • @yoshitsunedono They do...the fourth one is coming out next year. O_o

  • Wow, what a stun locking little bitch. Amon deserves all the rolling kicks you give him.

  • hope kenzan'll come out in english too :D

  • What does Kenzan! means?

  • It means to meet with someone; to have an audience. It's usually pronounced "genzan," but when pronounced "kenzan," it sounds nice and archaic.

If you watch a lot of samurai and ninja films, warriors will sometimes say this to announce themselves. Like..."Rikimaru kenzan!!" is like "Behold! I, Rikimaru, have arrived!"

  • I see. But to say the truth, I'm really fascinated with Japanese culture and past, even that I am from Europe. And thanks for the info.

  • Hey I have one more question... Regarding the Tengu mask man training. Is there anyway to change the time of day? Because I'm on Chapter 11 and it's daytime, but to meet him it needs to be night, correct?

  • Actually, you need it to be dusk (evening). You know, when it's all bright and yellow all around.

In Chapter 12, you get the ability to change the time of day at Kouetsu's mansion by talking to him. Unfortunately, at that point, you will have left the Pleasure District of Gion behind and you won't be able to get back in. So, I'd recommend doing all side material you can think of that has to do with that area FIRST. You know?

  • Ah okay, thank you. So I can really only have all the Tengu techniques for fighting the final boss? I will try and complete as much as I can. Umm... There's this guy lying down at the bottom of the Suburbs, he's been there for quite a lot of chapters now and he needs an item, which one do I give him. Sorry for all the questions, but I don't know the name of the quest (´・ω・`).

  • Hey Patrick, how do you get the best katana in the game? And also what Great Sword are you using? I haven't changed what Great Sword I've used from Chapter 5 and I'm on Chapter 11 now...

  • Oh man.... The best katana in the game? You get it delivered to you after you get every special move, Heat Action, and power-up skill you can get in the game as a reward. Technically, it's only the best sword because of its bonus, which you get for dual-wielding it with the 無双の脇差, which you get by completing all the side missions in the game. Unfortunately, Amon is one of the side missions, so you can't have this weapon when you first fight him.

  • If you can't get the 天下の太刀 or 無双の脇差, the two best swords below them are the Twin Dragons Tachi (双龍の太刀?) and its counterpart shortsword. Details on forging those are in the guide.

As for greatswords, I usually use the Wicked Rakshasa (悪鬼羅刹). Details on that are also in that huge FAQ over there.

  • Thanks a lot for the information, very helpful! I think I'm close to getting the heat actions, I think I only need the one where Kiryu slashes his opponent over his head several times with two swords and then kicks them away. But I have yet to actually get the picture for this.

Do you learn Heat moves from the horse-back archery or the frog riding game? Because they're two "mini-games" that I haven't finished.

  • Ugghhh, man...that damned archery!! *spits*

I mean, seriously...it's pretty frustrating. But after Answer x Answer in Ryuu ga Gotoku 3, I'm like "Whatever, man--easy as pie!" Anyway, you don't get skills from those two games. You just get your Fighting Spirit Gauge (super energy) extended for archery and unique weapons from the frog-riding thing.

The two-sworded one...maybe from completing all the side quests where you tutor that kid on the southern street of the Rakugai/Suburbs?

  • Thank you for the weapon help! I now have the Twin Dragons! Cost a lot though, 500,000 mon! The Merchant (the one who sells the Tengu masks) decided to take like 200,000 mon before selling me the Dragon Entrails. Plus the cost of the forging and that's a big sum.

I'm gonna try finding people for the Houzoin Tournaments next and trying to complete the horse archery and frog thingy.

  • Oh crap don't look now--here come the GameFAQs guys

Yeah--hopefully I'll be able to use this to upload subbed cut scenes from Kenzan and #3 soon...as soon as I'm done working on the FAQ, that is (of course)

  • I've been able to fully enjoy Kenzan thanks to your story walkthrough and I'm gonna import Yakuza3 soon too.Still,I doubt that It could be even better then Kenzan.

  • I`m going to import this together with Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 next month.

  • Oh yeah; this game's definitely worth it. Ryu ga Gotoku 3 will definitely be worth it, too!! I'm gonna get it, anyway--in, like, a week. I'll post a walkthrough to GameFAQs as usual.

    P.S. THE WORLD!!!!!

  • is this game and yakuza 3 playeble for a non japanese audience?.or is being able to understand japanese a must?.

  • Do you know how to change the difficult settling after you already started the game?

    Plz someone teach me!!

  • Oh--you can't. :( It kinda sucks, but, I'm pretty sure the only way to change difficulty is to start over. Once you clear the game, though, you can start a new game with all your items and experience and stuff, so.... Just start from there and change the difficulty there!

    Good luck!

  • Man, Thanks your valuable answer

  • One more question, can you explain the skills that we learn from the waterfall?

Is those skills has anything to do during the battle?

  • They do indeed. They have to do with your Heat Gauge, how you build it, and what it does. Most of them just make it so certain things build your Heat Energy, like guarding or being low on health, but there is one that makes it so when you're in Heat Mode, you can't die. It's explained in more detail in my FAQ at GameFAQs.

  • instead of making four Ryu Ga Gotoku(Yakuza)games SEGA should made Shenmue 3 and also make Ryo Hazuki a playable character in Virtua Fighter

  • This is horrible logic. Instead of making great games that are gaining them lots of money (at least, inside Japan), they should make an overblown "interview that guy, then that guy, then that guy!" game that will surely lose them lots of money? Yeah...that makes sense.

  • this is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard!!

  • the biggest bullshit I've ever heard is when your mom gave birth to you

  • dude this boss is a pain in the ass O.O

  • hey ryled if someone asked you to rate this game with the biggest number 5 how would u rate it?

  • Hey I recognized that boss, he's from the first game except in this one he's bald headed XD.

  • Yep! And...he's also in the second game (and he's really, really...tall for some reason).

He'll probably be in Ryuu ga Gotoku/Yakuza 3, too, is my bet =)

  • Pff he probably survived the first attack in the spin-off. I mean if he hadn't survived? The Amon wouldn't appear in the 1st game. He might have survived the beating in 1 and 2. Probably he might be back in 3.

  • i have a suggestion for a video "ThePatrick" in your FAQ of this game you mentioned you get to play as some boss characters, you should make a vid showing what these characters can really do p.s. I'm a huge yakuza fan and your FAQs helped ALOT thanks for taking time to making them.

  • Cool, no problem! I'm just glad someone could find my FAQs useful.

You do get to play as bosses, but, only in an extra mode in which you can play certain specific battles (like a "Battle Mission Mode"). Sadly, they can't really do too much, and those missions were very short (only 1 fight each). But...yeah, maybe I'll put it up someday!

  • This isn't Yakuza 3 because it is a spin off, or as some say, a side-tracking game.

It is based off of yakuza in terms of basic ideas and engine, but the plot doesn't follow allow as it is taking place in the past.

Its like taking yakuza and making a new story with it, thus it isn't yakuza 3, but is a third game.

The real Yakuza 3 for the ps3 may be the 4th game.

  • It is. you're right. But, everyone was calling it "Yakuza 3," so, I had to keep that in the title so people would search for it. There's not anything yet on Ryuu ga Gotoku 3, besides the voice actors and that it's gonna be set in Okinawa.

  • I like how YouTube has all these problems with replies.... Anyway, I'm gonna take off the "Yakuza 3" part because nobody's probably searching for it that way, anyway ;; I was just thinking people who liked the first game and knew nothing about the series would still find it through the search engines.

  • I just call it Yakuza 3 or Yakuza Kenzan.

  • Well, the thing is, Ryuu ga Gotoku 3 has been announced in Japan (set in modern-day, as usual). So, there is a pretty strong possibility of them releasing that game outside Japan as Yakuza 3. So.... Now that trailers and stuff of that might start popping up, it's best to call that one Yakuza 3 for now (maybe)

  • nevertheless remember that yakuza 3 kenzan and yakuza 3 ryu ga gotaku (or something like that) are two different games...

  • I think he probably called it "Yakuza 3" or "Yakuza Kenzan" because back when it came out, all the English-language magazines erroneously called it "Yakuza 3." Same with a lot of Japanese sites--including Famitsu (you can search for 龍が如く3 on Google or Famitsu's site and find articles of Kenzan). I should note that the "san (zan)" in "Kenzan" is also used for the number 3, sometimes, so...maybe it was a little confusing.

  • may be, thnks for replying

  • do you know japanese lang?

  • I have a degree in the Japanese language and I work as an interpretor and translator. I still make mistakes here and there, though, because I'm a knucklehead, but...yeah =)

  • oh,plus the place u fighting is important wether it is a bridge,inside a small room,a hall.ok see this,the opponent u fough using a short sword,giving him a opportunity to launch a good + fast atk to u.

  • hahahahahhaha,James Bon 007 The Movie - Samurai In Japanese Kenzan + Yakuza.Hhahahahah, the opponent u fought looks like a japanese version of James Bond.

  • If I'll buy this game in Japan, Is it gonna work on Europan console??

  • hahahah,u should cange tactic to fight him effectively.-_-''',see u use many mana to fight, hmph, takes a lot of time ohhh.

  • hey...i just found out that this is not Yakuza 3. Yakuza 3 is coming out First quarter 2009. This game is just a spin-off and IS the 3rd installment. An article said that this game would give ppl a further understanding of the Japanese culture and traditions...and why they still use it today. Kinda like the movie, The Last Samurai.

  • Anyway, at the time I made this video, U.S. fans always referred to this game as "Yakuza 3," so, I included the name in the title so people would actually find it when looking for info. Thanks for the heads-up; I'll change it once I hear a possible U.S. title suggested.

  • when dodging to the side giving him the extra special time to prepare his attack towards u.dodge it in the directly perpendicular way.
