It's more than a year old. I never heard of this marble radon stuff it sounds like absolute BS. But indeed the granite industry isn't the first 'independent' source I would inquire with.
Thank-you God for good guys like Mr. Harvey. Just shows you how bleeped up those dolts the Clintons and their like really are. Yes, Thank-you for Mr. Harvey, he was good to listen to on the farm.
the countertops won't emit large amounts of radon (although there may be extremely and I mean extremely slight amounts emitted), rather the truth is that if your home has granite for bedrock (as you need a large granite body), there is a good chance of radon gas getting in your home.
Really? The Stone News Channel?? Is that next to the Weather Channel? LoL, Call your local cable network provider today!! At least Paul Harvey wouldn't wear orange under a blue blazer.. HaHa!! Glad I couldn't see her shoes! Yikes!!
Having said that, the radon from granite appears to be well below any harmful levels. Paul Harvey's comments, though true, are exaggerated in importance.
this was made BEFORE he died. For goodness sakes, I can see why you are a Paul Harvey fan, you don't get your facts right.

I believe granite DOES release radon.
But how much.
Levels so low that it makes no diference over what is already in nature?
The bigger concern is radon coming into homes through basements and collecting in basements.
Many homes in Colorado have fans to pull radon in air from basements.

It's true, my marble countertop cooks food automagically just from the radiation emitted!
