  • Satriani is a god

  • Okay, watching this i have no idea on how he didnt make the top 100 and all his students did, that is messed up, can Kirk or Steve do this song to such perfection?? I', not saying they're bad guitarists, they are awesome just not as good as Satriani.

  • Which album have this song? What year was made this concert? :) this is the best version!! !

    Thanks!! ^^

  • best live version definatley

  • I wonder what is better the songs? or their names?

  • ha sbagliato il joe all'inizio..!! ma il joe è il joe è si è ripreso subito!

  • great version, can someone tell when and where was it ?

  • 2002, Montreux Jazz Festival I guess...

  • thanks ;)

  • If he's not the best, he's damn close. If you like rock, prog, fusion, whatever, he's in the top 3 easily. Mine are Vai, Huesca, and Satch. Sorry to pop anyone's bubbles, but EVH just doesn't rank very high. I put Adrian Vandenburg and George Lynch above him, just my personal taste though.

  • If you ask me there are no "best" guitarist in the world. There are too many different styles of playing and ways of playing it that there is little to compare them to. Blues, Rock, Metal, all having their own styles of playing. If you ask me, being in a band or being a great guitarist is not battle, everyone does their own thing.

  • Montywally is right.'Cause i think he means that satriani writes the best songs ever and not because they are difficult to play but they're so special that nobody else would have thougt of 'em!!

  • Joe is the best guitarist alive today. No contest.!

  • No contest? I highly disagree with you on that. There are so many guitar players that are just as good or better than Joe Satriani. Examples: Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Van Halen. There are tons of other guitarists who can easily compare to Satriani, so you show very little knowledge when you say that he's the absolute best guitar player in the world. Satriani is a great guitar player, but no one will ever be able to say exactly who's the best in the world.

  • Andreas, Monty is just saying that he really loves Joe's playing!

  • @AndreasSku93 excluding the comment about van halen, i fully agree man

  • @jckbac9 Van Halen is atleast as good as the other guitarists I mentioned, he's amazing at making solos and has a very good understanding of metal guitar playing. His technique and skills are also mind-blowing, and I would pick him before for example Malmsteen anytime. Speed scale shredding isn't everything..

  • Hes in the Zone man big Time! True Guitar master Like Hendrix ...

  • who ever thinks joe satraini is not creative and not a good guitarist is a complete idiot and doesnt know what a guitar is we will leave it at that :)

  • lol "this ones called mystical potato head......groove thing"

  • awesome!!!

  • great song!!!!

  • Um, fuck off!!!

  • Oh, how I hate that word you shit. This music is incredible, amazing range of techniques. Don't take your crap life out on the satch.

  • its jeff beck, and satriani says its one of his influences. thank you for sharing your knowledge

  • fuck u

  • jeez you dont need to be so jelous of joe satriani

  • do u know anything bout guitar?

  • Montreux Jazz Festival 2002

  • Joe is so good, it doesn't really matter what version you happen to be watching. They're all great and interesting in their differences.

  • Why wasn't Galen playing back up guitar here?? What year was this??

  • anyone who watches this, if you like it i urge you to watch the G3 Live in Denver version, one of the best performances ever!

  • yeah thats a great recording of it.

  • When was this song performed? please?

  • My fav from FIABD.

  • If Anybody Can Play This Song (On Guitar Of Course) PLEASE LEARN IT TO ME!! I Wanna Learn This Song! It's A Masterpice, Amazing! Go Stach!

  • i am learning it as I speak.....It is a fun song..

  • Awsome man! Where did you find the tabs? And you're good if you can play this awsome song!

  • the tabs are acvailable on my software Guitar pro 5...the song is easy enough with the exception of the trick legato as the chorus...they are both sus chords combinde into a sweeping type format onlt as all hammer ons and pull offs...with the pick hand acting as a damper...does take practise but you muscles will adapt..

  • No one plays like this, amazing!

  • Joe is in a league all of his own. Amazing guitar player. Awesome song!

  • M GOING TO SEE HIM TOMORROW!!! sorry but caps lock seemed to be the most appropriate to try to put across my immeasurable excitement.

Paul gilbert on the same night n all...BONUS!!!

  • This is the sort of tune that you hope for from a guitar god. It's melodic and he's hitting a lot of screaming "sweet" notes, he doesn't over play, and he does that hammer on thing which makes me want shake my fist in the air and say, "F*ck yeah!!".

  • no one plays like joe satriani.. he's so good he made his own type of music?!??!

  • Saw Joe in concert in 2006. Was blown away by his virtuosity.

  • Very cool hammer ons

  • i think the mystical potato head he's turning to is himself^^ by the way...

    JOE= no.1 ^^

  • what...?

  • jajjajajajajaa

    GREAT

  • thrash riffs compared to this style of playing are like smoking harmless cigarettes

  • i need to get a chrome boy they are so sweet

  • Fuck me... I love this music, Joe Satriani for the win...

  • No Thanks, but I DO love this music. Haha!

  • me too !!!! , :) fuck satriani if you're a chick, he did enough to urn it :)

  • the mystical potato head groove thing man change it:p

  • mystical potato head...erm *Joe* =P ...jki no offence

  • For real music stop here.^^^^^^^^^

  • lol Theshlong i was thinking the same thing xD

  • OMG WTF, his legato is waaaay better than that shiet.

  • which legato song do you mean.

i like some of his staccato songs:D

  • Joe!!!!! joe! joe! joe! joe!!

  • FY FAN VAD DÅLIGT

  • is it just me or does joe look like a skinny vin diesel since he started shaving his head. lol

  • There is a video of Joe explaining why he lays his right hand over the fretboard: it's to mute the strings.

  • dudes how can can he be using it as a capo if each time he places his right hand ina slightly different position...watch closely...if it was a capo it would have to be exactly in the correct position every time

  • Dude its just used to deaden the strings so that the strings don't produce harmonics, and produce the sound of the fret that you tap-on. Try without the right and with little distortion, possibly clean and you'll get harmonics interfering with the notes. So just use the right hand to mute/deaden the strings anywhere, and you'll be fine!

  • Yeah definately no capo involved, the only reason he lays his hand across the strings past his left hand is to mute any other strings that might start to resonate.

  • what dvd is this from?

  • Jewells001

    Thanx for the video.

    Satriani RULES!

  • same as vai in building the church..he puts his left hand on top of the neck to dampen the noise from the intro tapping section...bloody amazing both of them

  • i almost got the album version of this song perfected until i cut my finger on a tin

how unfortunate i havnt been able to play for bout a week so i lost wat i nearly perfected

    BUMMER!!!

  • very good

  • Kinda sloppy.

Oh yes, I, Davis, the rebel, just layed a put-down on your guitar hero without videos of myself playing proving I can do better. Something's not right here!

  • You do not try to outdo Joe Satriani.

My favourite musical experience with another musician is when I am jamming with Joe, because it reminds me of when I was a kid, and how, after three years of lessons, we used to just jam together for the fun of it. -Vai

  • Is that a quote?

    Bob.

  • why isnt he with larue in this vid. when was this from?

  • That wasnt Joe's night...

  • Great song. The best guitarist!

  • Impressionnant! Du vrai Satriani!

  • Honestly, yeah, he did trail off at the end. He really screwed up one part. Bad.

  • wot are you talking about, really screwed up witch part, were you listerning too the same track as me??

  • Right at the end, the feedback was wrong. He kinda screwed that up.

    He's still king though.

  • Omg, he seems to be screwing up alot, or am I mistaking?

  • matt bissionett left the band now a geddy wannabe came instaed

  • one of my idols....

JOE concert in Opatija vsa THE BEST:)))))

  • i tried out 1 of his signature ibanezes today, so frikin good

  • never played one... better than vai's JEMs?

  • well it was nice and light and the fretboard was short and easy to play on so it was pretty damn good

  • I think joe's high pitched sound he gets is a natural harmonic on the...19th fret, then he bends the tremolo arm either up or down, makes a simalar sound tbh =)lovin' that JS1000.

    Bob.

  • Esse cara é Foda Demais!

  • was this before satch got his signature rig? his sound isn't so rich here

  • No se que tiene joe k hace k ningun otro guitarrista me guste mas!!! joe s'the best!!! (por cierto, os habeis fijado en el parecido de Jeff Capitelly, el bateria con john petruchi, XDDDDDDDDDDDDD)

  • DOES ANYONE IN HERE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE THAT FAMOUS SATCH SCREAM WITH BRIDGE AND STRINGS???

  • From what I hear, the Satch scream is a pinched harmonic on the 2nd and 3rd string, and a bar dip.

No whammy on my guitar, so I don't know for sure.

  • yeh... u just pinch the open strings with ur pick and edge of ur thumb...and then move the whammy bar accordingly...it's pretty easy once u get the hang of it...

  • yeah. with your left hand, you lower the whammy bar as low as u can, then hit a pinch harmonic on an open string, and slowly raise it

  • great guitar player

  • no cowbell in the beginning?!?!

  • dude this guy is satch

  • fuck this guy looks like satch ??? he almost sounds authentic

  • matt bissonette is great too. But man... JOE SATRIANI SUCKS BALLS. lol just kidding. Hes one od the greatest guitarists ever. This video just proves it

  • the Bassist is Matt Bissonette

  • hes using hes right hand as a damperner, basically muting them so he doesnt get any string noise when he pulls off, not a hard technique to master with a little practice

  • He is an imortal god, seriously, he looks like he has gotten younger

  • A damn good one that blows you away.

    Gee does it really matter?

  • Who is the ugly bass player?

  • love this song, vai, petrucci or malmsteen are fast and technical, but Joe has a inimitable feeling. his a god

  • He blows every other shredder away..hell he taught most of them!

  • vai, satch, eric johnson, ynwie and petrucci=god

and smurfyc84, he doesnt use his right hand as a capo, he just mutes all the noise he wud get from pull offs to an open string. i thot he was using it as a capo too until i saw a tv lesson he did

  • Yes he is using it as a capo he brings the whole lick up a third I beleive. watch and listen

  • dude im tellin u. he explained it on this tv lesson. he uses his hand to mute all the extra noise he would get from the pull offs he does

  • Yeah hes not using it as a capo. hes just muting the strings. And if you play guitar, you would know that capo would make no difference unless he was playing an open string.

  • I hate it when he does that 'look my right hand is a capo' thing! it makes the rest of us look like amateurs! =P

  • amateur! just kidding. You should practice that every once and a while along with your sweep picking exercises. You'll be good in no time bro.

  • dude, even without the hand thing he makes everyone look like an amateur

  • because we are!

  • he does it so the strings dont ring out smartass

  • when and where was this taken?
