There is NO historical evidence that Mecca was a major pilgrimage site before Mohammad. Greek and Roman sources, familiar with the area, do not mention Mecca at at but mention many places in modern Yemen and Ethiopia. How did they miss all the Hajjis? Easy -- there were none.

Islam is the invention of Mohammad. Muslims took Abraham and Noah and other Jewish stories and try to mold them into Islam but it doesn't work. Abraham, according to history, is from modern Iraq, not the Hijaz.
