-that there's some poor dumb lug out there who'll fall for this crap.
Truth is this. You will be doing fitness until you're purple in the face, have no ear drums left from all the shouting your sadist drill sarge will be barking at you. You'll get to kill without questions, wether they're innocents or not. You're there to do, not think.
Suddenly, the army's not looking so fun anymore.
Then you come home with two missing limbs due to a road bomb.
I love this cartoon. It's such a comment. It shows how a lot of young-dumb-and full of -cum youngsters get caught up in this delusion of adventure and fun. Meanwhile it's like being in prison, but almost worse. Plus, you get to go to Iraq...Yay! Fun for everyone.
It's like here in the uk. They have this slew of ads where they show this adventure- good times and girls and nightlife scenes, and it all looks like a first person shooter. I'm seeing this and Im just shaking my head in disbelief-
Not for nothing, Donald Duck is one of, at least, three cartoon characters who really enlisted. Popeye, who if you look closely, had only one eye, 'til WWII. And, when he joined the navy(obviously), he had two! Bugs Bunny was actually made a sergeant in the US Marine Corps.. I think Pluto was with the K-9 Corps.. America was that kind of country, and it was good to see we were all in it together..
When was the last time all Americans pulled together on anything..?
You just gotta laugh at these propaganda videos, take em lightly and remember that we're in a world where we don't have to take bullshit like this.
That being said, if it wasn't for vids like these, America might not have enough soldiers as needed before, no matter how many decided to join after watching the vid.
I don't think you can call THIS one a propaganda film. I mean, would YOU sign up after seeing this?
This was just something made to reflect what was going on in the world, since a lot of people WERE signing up left and right. (Actually, if you look Donald's draft notice in the beginning, it's dated March 24, 1941, before America was even in the war. Apparently the army was in a "it's just a matter of time" mindrame.)
You want propaganda, see "Spirit of '43" in Related Videos at right.
@Marbles471 USA were drafting in soldiers for "defense of their homeland" way earlier than Pearl Harbour... Plus, a lot of soldiers signed up voluntarily... Just to get your facts straight...
@Marbles471 this is also propaganda, its just anti-war propaganda, beacuase the population and the senat was against war. they accepted the idea because of Pearl Harbour only.
@Joroshira It was wartime, and that's the way nearly all Americans felt. Later, the next generation(that was us!), would ask, "What did you do in the war, Daddy?", and they would proudly have something to tell their children. Thus, we came from a generation of real heroes. It's really something, knowing some ld guy had done something for real, that some actor played on the screen.
Damn you propaganda..
