  • You gotta break in the tubes, speaker, etc. mine lost all the shrill treble after a month. I gig small clubs w/ it and am constantly asked how I get such a great tone...

  • That's what Beck uses on stage, crazy

  • If you want a quality little amp, get the Vox DA5. It's solid state but can sound tube-like. . They're discontinued so check eBay

  • WHO THINK'S THE BLUES JR IS BETTER ? I AM IN TWO MINDS WEATHER TO GET THIS OR A BLUES JR FOR HOME USE ONLY, I HAVE A 1975 VIBROCHAMP ALREADY, BUT WANT A SECOND AMP TO GET SOME DIFFERENT SOUNDS, MAYBE A BLUES JR WOULD BE BETTER AS IT SEEMS TO HAVE MORE SOUNDS ? GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS PLEASE, ANYONE THAT HAS OWNED BOTH, PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE PLUSES AND MINUSES CHEERS

  • The mad swallower strikes again. My lord this guy is an god aweful reviewer.

  • Can someone tell me what to do? I'm 15 and I want to start playing the guitar but the biggest problem for me would be the price. My family doesn't have the most money in the world, and I don't know what guitar or amp I should buy as a beginner that doesn't sound so bad I end up on the verge of quitting. I'm probably going to look at guitars this week, and I figured getting a second hand one wouldn't be a bad place to start. Or is that a bit risky?

  • @BLACKOUTMK2 And as a side note, I don't want one that is so loud that I annoy my family and the neighbours because my neighbours house is attached to mine. I also don't want one that's super loud because I have sensitive hearing. How loud exactly are amps?

  • @BLACKOUTMK2 Second hand is always a good option....All the small fender amps are awesome!!

  • @BLACKOUTMK2

I would take advantage of the new tube micro-amps that have been coming out. Look at the Blackstar HT-1 or one of the other 1 to 5 watt tube amps that are out. You don't have to spend a fortune, they will be plenty loud (for practicing, not necessarily with a full loud band) and you will get good tube sound.

  • pretty good demo, this amp needs spring reverb. i'll stick with my 410 deville, even though its excruciatingly loud.

  • how does this compare in timbre and versatility to the blues jr? isn't the blues a 12" vs a 10"?

  • Listen at 0:38, 1:14, 1:51, and so on... Does no one else hear that smoke alarm with the low battery?!?! Adam & Drew would not approve.

  • Sounds like a pignose 7-100 amp turned down. And a 5 watt VOX amp turned up.

  • Probably a stupid question, but which do you think is louder cranked - the pro jr or the frontman 25r? I play mostly country and rockabilly type stuff, so fuzz isn't much of a factor for me. Thanks for the demo

  • @dustybeers definitely the pro junior. The pro junior is a tube amp, and the frontman is a solid state.

  • i was looking for an opinion is it worth getting one of these or should i get a vox ac15, i really like that this is small and portable but the vox seems to have a bit more versatility. also i was wondering if this could even keep up with a drummer, i've got a fender blues deluxe and i'm hoping that it sounds at least somewhat like that clean, but with way more drive! lol

  • @jay2rocks i own one of these, and u can easily keep up with a drummer.

  • @jay2rocks ... the ac15 pisses all over this amp.

  • I own this amp and recently starts to sound too loud, I can't crank the tubes, the volume just increase to an stupid level, something like a huge amp. Also with some low notes theres like a ringing sound. Can you guys tell me if this problem can be cause by a broken tube? or something else? please help with this.

  • I'm in love with little amps the pro jr, the ac4, the marshall class 5, the freaking fender champ!! I cant get enough of them.

  • i have one for practice - add an overdrive pedal and it's a killer sound.

  • I assume the master tone boosts treble, mids, and bass?

  • @FiestyMclovin

If it boosted everything that wouldn't change the tone. It just boosts the treble end as you turn it up.

  • This guy looks like if he returns to the future from '90s

  • "no master volume"

The volume is the mastering volume.. *facepalm

  • @Pianoblacks This is not a master volume amp. That's why he says that. Sorry but there's no need for your facepalm here.

  • @phishmarisol

    from Fender Pro Junior manual:

"Controls: Master Volume, Master Tone "

I never said anything about this being a master volume amp... *facepalm x2 (you and worldmusicsupply)

  • @Pianoblacks Fender is the same company that calls their onboard tremolos "vibrato". Sorry you don't know what a master amp is but you are wrong and so are they.

  • why you guyz hatin on this guy? it's a deccent demo, nice actually.

  • this is nottt. nottt. a bad demo like seriously i got out of it what i wanted to get this isnt a demo of the guitarist its of the amp stop whining. i hate that the two first seen comments make this vid seem bad its not bad

  • Dude, that Godin hat rawks!

  • Jason, very nice demo. Thanks

  • Kinda sounds john mayerish at the start..i like it.

  • I'm digging it. Nice sounds, good playing.

  • Comment removed

  • I very much like the sound of this amp. The controls are simple. Just a volume and tone. You dont need all those extra eq knobs. The perfect setup addition to this amp would be a reverb knob. But I guess that's what pedals are for.

  • I'm searching like mad for Tonyc329 and thozzman's s professional level demos on YouTube. Anyone know where they are. I bet they are great because Tony and Thozz is obviously from his comments a much better amp demo professional than anyone else.

Tony - shoot us some links to your Professional Level video demos PLEASE. I'm dying to watch them.

    Big Ron

  • Why are you people saying that this guy sucks ? i think he's fine

  • I think the reason why you guys find it sound dull and dry is because it doesn't have the Reverb Function. I like better with the Reverb, it makes a lot nicer tone!

  • wtf are you guys talking about? this is a great demo. he goes through every sound on the amp, all the volume and tone settings. You guys want to see metal or something? this isnt a mesa boogie

  • these demos always seem to find a way to give anything a dry, dull sound with no colour. i dont know how they do it. maybe the room he's in kills the sound?

  • I have this amp along with a strat and les paul...the strat sounds awesome thru it, but if you are playing something with humbuckers it drives the amp too much and its almost impossible to get a clean tone. Sounds best with a Fender guitar in my opinion.

  • this amp is freaking loud and it constantly wants to distort w/humbucker pickups..still Marshall is better what can I say..

  • @wisesatyr72

I had one they are loud. I heard a in store demo next to a Marshall 18 watt amp and the Fender held up pretty well considering the price.

  • @Anotherblackseason Yeah its too fricking loud, its like impossible to play w/EMGs let alone humcbuckers..it hurts my ears and the tone is too brutal

  • that a pretty cool amp and it sounds pretty good but i wish it had a master volume and a midrange booster so (1) you could get higher gain at lower volumes and (2) so you can enhance the sound of your distorted tone. but that's just me otherwise it's a pretty good amp.

  • In these rewiews the all amplifiers sounds same. It does not matter if it is the tube amp or shitty transistor...

  • i dont see the point of such an amp. For a few euros more, you get the blues deluxe. Why?

  • practice amp or just small blues amp. not good for a "main amp" where the blues deluxe would be good. kinda like a bigger champ.

  • cuz the blues deluxe is reallllly loud for most ppl

  • you mean blues junior. And its a differnt amp, the junior is the better bang for the buck, but the pro junior is sick for what it does, its more of a studio amp, i had one and you can really get a great crunch at high volumes, dont let its size fool you, ITS LOUD cranked up lol

  • The size of it is convenient for some. And they sound good too.

  • are you talking about the blues jr?

  • Man, I just don't really like 10" speakers. This sounds like a pretty good amp, other than that.

  • TUNE YOUR GUITAR PLEASE!!

  • I´d like to hear it with a brighter tone setting when it´s cranked. If I want this sound I´ll just use a big muff. I need it bright... maybe that´s a sign that my ears are going bad :)

  • Why so much hate for this guy? He's really, really good and this demonstration is excellent.

  • Just messin' with you Jason...

  • This dude needs to learn to breath through his nose...The smacking sounds like dinner with grandpa.

  • Geez don't lay in to it too much.

  • this amp doesn't have anything over the SCXD.

  • It's not the amp, it's this demo. Worst demo videos ever. Please remove these from Youtube and stop torturing us with these awful demo videos. Or just talk about the amps and let someone else play and record it.

  • Sounds really thin and farty when cranked.

  • this guy plays like a bitch

  • Does this go loud enough to get above a drum kit? with a noisy drummer?.

  • i also know a guy who uses one as a harmonica amp. it sounds freakin sweet with a bullet mic!

  • Hmm are you that guy who left a review on musciansfriend about the harmonica and recommending it to students and said it sounds great with a bullet mic?

  • i love this amp. i used to gig with one every weekend. plenty loud for small clubs.

  • please helo me out since uve owned this amp....im moving in a condo...can i drive this amp without pissing off the neighbors, i meen its only 15 watts....so is this amp still generally quiet when it breaks up???

  • Do not buy this if you want a quiet amp. At the point where it breaks up it is loud enough to hang with a drum kit. I'm dead serious. This thing has balls. Get a blues junior if you want volume control and great tone.

  • @CJsoccer4

No. You need an overdrive unit or a 1-2 watt amp to get distortion on lower db levels.

  • Blues Junior would serve you better. It has a pre-amp volume and a master, so you can turn the master low, and the preamp up to cook the tubes, and get some nice bedroom grit.

Of course, any tube amp sounds better louder, unless it's very low wattage. Check the vox ac4 also. it goes down to 1/4 watts and you can crank the volume to get some great dirt at managable volume.

  • it has to be pretty loud to get dirty, your lookin at about 7 and above on the volume when breakup starts to get more prominent.

  • @CJsoccer4

it deppends in what you want to sound like, cuz some characteristics happen in high volume and how close the other people live, I have a blues junior in an apartment and I always get shit from the people on the third floor

  • Its a lovely amp. I got one of these. Got a Jensen Alnico speaker upgrade and vintage Mullard EL84's.

    Sweet and creamy.

    Highly recommended.

  • Very nice. The recording is clear enough to hear the nuances of the different settings. The bummer is now I am jones-ing to have one of these amps for myself.

  • 2:15 mmm...yeah...listen to how it "breaks up really organically and is really responsive to how you play."

that break up is just so sweet to my ears, and those dynamics coming from just 15W just amaze me.

  • is it loud enough to be heard over drums?

  • if you play alternative rock and your drummer plays moderately loud probably not. definitely not if he hits the crash a lot. But it will be good enough if your drummer plays moderately mellow

  • no way mate lol

  • yeah i know now. i found an amp to use.

  • should i get the pro junior or blues junior?

  • get the pro junior, it has a clearer tone than the blues junior... the blues gets very muddy

  • thanks man.

  • very nice sound..!

  • is it too loud for playing in the living room?

  • superchamp xd

  • lol i like his britney spears mic haha

  • Subpar demo. How this individual finds employment in this field escapes me. I wish him well, but WOW he is terrible at demoing gear...

Having watched this video I think I will take a pass on this amp and grab a used Belair for the same price instead.

  • i dont see why this guy is hired noone likes him

  • i have this amp and it sounds very good. the natural tube overdrive is impressive. its also very loud, at home i dont turn it up past 1-2 when the wife is home. however, with only tone and vol knobs, you might consider that a good reverb and EQ pedal will add about 200 bucks to the total cost, unless you go for a sub-par solution like a Digitech RP-80.

  • I had an ampeg jet (original, not RI). Beautiful tone, but not versatile. If I wanted OD at low volumes, I used an OD rig I made from the butchered guts of a tape player, and for reverb, I would bring the amp in the stairway and face it up. Wonderful amp. Someone has one of these on CL in my area for $200, and I am strongly considering it, even though I don't "need" another amp. But if I buy it, I can drive it and eq it with my seymour duncan twin tube classic. Reverb would be nice, but hey...

  • I think its his mic that sounds bad ?

  • ha i love you blowhard seppos. you all copy other players and then compare yourselves to each other on whos got the better sounding gear and who sounds the closest to the dude you are copying. boring cunts.

btw thanks for the amp demo bro. these other sad saks are just copycunt blowhards that think they play like stevie

    ho hum

  • This guy has a knack for making a great amo sound like a pile of dog shit. I have to disagree with the guy that said vintage noiseless have no liveliness to them. I've heard them sound much better than they do here. But i agree that Texas specials are great pups.

I wish this guy would stop playing nashville type twangy crap on a strat. For christ sakes, use a tele for that.

  • Since when was country limited to the telecaster? How narrow minded of you. Its all about how you play it.

  • Man, no offense to the guy playing here, but it totally sounds like shit here. I played through a nice used one just today with a Les Paul Traditional Plus, and it sounded incredible man. I went through a few blues shuffles in C and G and I put a down payment on this baby. Dunno what went wrong with the sound on this guy's amp. Mine had a really nice round blues tone. But it did get bassy at higher settings, but not enough to bother me.

  • I agree with you.. No offense too, but every GOOD AMP this guy plays it sounds like shit. I think the problem is with his playing. No offense.

For example, the BASSMAN test... OMG bassman sounds like crap in the video.

So.. I think he´s not helping selling amps.

  • I'll add that the recording setup they're using has alot to do with the final product as well. If you notice when he cranks it there's massive clipping at the mic.

  • Good point man. It's really hard to capture the actual sound of an amp through recording, but I think they could have done a lot better job on this one.

  • geeze, back the tone off it a little bit???? I don't think that was a little bit.

  • The tone of the amp in this vid is greatly underrated considering the use of a terrible and dead sounding guitar. There is absolutely no liveliness in those stupid waste of money Fender vintage noiseless pickups. IMHO put some texas specials or the like in front of it and the ratings would be much higher. But when in doubt, buy a deluxe reverb :)

  • to add i have one, and a BOSS-OD1 in front of it gets a nice bluesy tone - otherwise you have to crank it - and it's a really loud 15 tube watts......

with something in front of it, it's ok OR if you just want a really clean amp - then you are set as it gets pretty loud / still clean , the tone in this video btw doesn't do it justice

  • yeah it's pretty awful , Blues Jr. - much better for what most folks prob want

  • this guy is so funny!

  • how would this sound with some humbuckers?

  • That one thing he played sounded like a mix of free bird, simple man,and sweet home alabama.

    Jason Spencer=Super Skynyrd Fan?

  • think its horrible

  • Agreed. God awful tone

  • i have a fender Frontman 65R

Should i replace it and buy this one?

(im only playing at home XD)

  • nooooooooooooooooo

  • but with my amp

i dont know how to "tune" it X.X"

    and it sound crappy

so i prefer this amp because there are only 2 knobs.... plus tube amp+smaller

  • i got the 65R too and i'm totally happy with it. it's not the amp alone which forms the tone, but your guitar and your guitar SKILLS are extremely important. try to produce the tone with our fingers and then you will be happy with that cheap am ;-)

btw: i would rather save my money for a blues junior oder blues deluxe

  • i have a highway1 strat

and yea i probably dont have such guitar skills...

but i still want to get to a blues sound :Z (or metal XD) beacuse now i have only the crappy clean sound (like an unplugged guitar almost... only worse X.X")

can u tell me how u "tuned" ur amp?

  • i normally have the drive on about 2-3 which gives me a nice overdrive for blues, but i have a les paul, so maybe you have to turn to 3-4. furthermore i use these settings: treble: 4, middle: 6, bass: 3, reverb: 5.

the only thing i don't like is that the drive channel sounds a bit mudd y sometimes, but i think it's not that bad.

  • This amp is balls to the wall. Tone-monster!! At extremely low volumes, it WILL shake your damn windows. But again, the one is absolutely buttery.

  • if u put the amp at the point of breakup (say 7) then u put a boost pedal into this, would it have the effect of pushing the tubes into the natural amp distortion??

  • yeah if you put an overdrive or clean boost in front of it.

  • Comment removed

  • just bought this amp, let me tell you its louder than this video shows it to be

  • 15 watts tube...no master volume....of course :) definitely not an apartment amp if youre going for that nice tube saturation. Not bein rude, but alot of people need to get a little more informed on tube amps before buying them, because they quickly find that tube amps are muuuuch more powerful than solid state and if you plan on havin that grit, you gotta crank em, most people wont even get halfway there before neighbors get pissed.

  • Yup. Believe me, when I say I know EXACTLY what you mean....

  • all of these reviews would be better if he didnt use the in between position so much.

  • Comment removed

  • ha. your hilarious.

  • sorry,i don't like this guy's review,it couldn't help.

  • would be nice with reverb

  • From 3:32 till 3:45 I can here the same mosquito-like-phasing sound on the overdrive high end.Mine does that too.

    I wonder why.

  • I think it's because the amp is tug.

  • ...not sure what you mean by "tug".Could you elaborate?

  • a better speaker and probably some better tubes will make a world of difference. they cut corners in that department

  • i use one of these live, with the signal split into a fender blues reverb underneath it to fill out the bottom end a bit, with a litle reverb to spread it out. The pro junior gives all that great cut where you need it and breaks up beautifully at about half volume. It's the best amp they ever made. And cheap. For recording, it's perfect, live it may not be quite loud enough on it's own. Two might do the trick.

  • The amp keeps up with a drummer which means it's as loud as ordinary bar gigging requires.Beyond that it can be mic-ed.

In fact 15 watts is ideal because a 50 Watt amp can only be played at low volumes(and tonal quality suffers)

As for recording they're loud as hell. Moreover they hum allot at low volumes.

  • This guy sucks doing reviews... :\

  • Awesome tone though

  • Thank you very much sircopro, and yes I have decided to go with the Blues Junior, a little more expensive but worth it in the end

  • I just got a pro jr yesterday for low volume home use. Its loud as hell but sounds great. It's my first tube amp. I was getting great low volume overdrive with a blues driver pedal in front of it. I'm really happy with it.

  • Hey I was looking into a small tube amp for practice in my dorm room. I know tube amps should be cranked loud to get the full potential. Do you think that the Pro Junior would be too loud for a small setting such as this. If it is I'll have to go solid state probably the G-DEC Junior which I really don't want to do. BTW I play a Fender American Standard Strat. Any suggestions would be helpful thanks.

  • I think it would be way too loud for a dorm room. I have one of these in my spare room, and much above volume setting 4 makes my ears hurt (course i could be getting old!)

  • If you want to have a tube amp, fender tone, and also hear overdrive sound without disturbing others go for the Blues Jr. I was in the same position as you and tried the pro JR but you need really go very loud if you want to hear a nice crunchy sound. With the Blues Jr you can control the master vol and the preamp vol.

You can see nice reviews of the blues jr here.

  • The Blues Jr., even with more features is nowhere near the tone machine the Pro Junior is. Not even close.

  • I gotta agree about the BJ, pure mudd, and brash brittle highs, honky mids.....basically it covers the worst of the entire frequency spectrum. I have a classic 30, and it's brash by nature, but with a better speaker and some hammond, rca, mullard, and phillips tubes it has become the amp if my dreams. It's the same price as a BJ, and twice the wattage. I am however intrigued by this pro jr thing. Personally, I'd have to wire on a 12", I don't like the 10" sound, but it seems like a nice amp.

  • go for a champion 600. cool amp

  • The thing sounds awesome, and kudos to the demoer's skills. I'm looking for an amp that is about 15 watt and tube based that I can run effects through for fun at home and small time performance, and I want to be able to crank it all the way up clean; is there a decently priced amp that will do this?

  • I had one of these which I played a Fender Mexican Tele through. It was a great combo but being a bass player I never gave it much use. They're both gone now. Definitely a decision I regret. Anyone tempted by the Pro Junior. Just do it!

  • i have one of these..the tweed one from like 94 or 95..it sounds great clean or cranked..i play a tele and a washburn with paf pickups..great for jammin round the house or recording..maybe a small club gig..also a great harmonica amp..

  • Which has more clean headroom this or the blues junior?

  • the blues jr does...

  • Thanks pal.

  • remember you can always bias your tub amp to have more headroom... or less

i own a hot rod deluxe a hot rod deville 410 and a fender supersonic 112 and i keep my deville with a lot of headroom by biasing my amp at a lower level and my deluxe`s bias is very high for incredible distortion!!!! if i were you i`ll wait and buy a hot rod deluxe they are the best tube amps for the money in the market!!

  • why when demoing the amps he is always playing with his guitars volume. that is affecting the sound and volume of the amp.

  • Yeah, that annoyed me too.But I actually have one for a few years now and it makes a Strat and Les Paul sound real good.I use an Electro Harmonix Tube Zipper just for the extra warmth and a little extra drive for when I am rocking out.But the main thing is that it is a really good sounding tube amp which is good for country, blues and rock. And it don't break the bank!

  • why does no-one ever play rythym in these demos (chordes, power chordes)

  • We'll keep that in mind when shooting more videos.

  • there is rhythm and power chords in the seconds half of the video. Try 3:30.

But use a guitar with humbuckers for once, WMS.

  • this guy makes all the amps sound the same.

at least he's better than that emo gearwire guy.

  • gearwire... so simple a caveman could do it.

  • Why wear a hat indoors?

  • you should've played more with it! and tune your guitar!

  • why doesnt mine sound like that

  • what guitar do you have?

  • Do you have gold coated cables?

  • You're hearing a pro demo in a studio environment. Where you play has alot to do with your tone. I mainly play in two differnt places. One has carpeted floors and the other is my home, with hard wood floors and the tone is vastly different from place to place. You also have to take into account the difference in instruments, cables, and the player.

  • yeah thats right, in my uni room its carpet and at home its wood and it sounds completely different

  • These amps sound great-good buy. Most have humming/buzzing out of the box. Must use good preamp tubes 12ax7 (stock power tubes usually ok) also center screw on rear chasis turn out 1 turn or so. Made mine dead quiet.

  • I've never seen anyone sell this for more than a blues junior.
