If this is when they first meet then what's up with the episode where Robert is at a bar and he accidentally trips a waiter who then drops drinks all over Amy. Robert and Amy then look at each other like it's the first time they set eyes on each other? I'm confused.

They broke up and that's when they accidentally bumped into each other. I think they have always loved each other but Robert wasn't ready for another marriage after his divorce and was a little apprehensive about commitment till he realised he really wanted to be with Amy

I STILL love watching this show, even after iut's been on the air so long...

It just hits the nail on the head so PERFECTLY, and all the characters--Ray and Debra, Robert and Amy, DEFINITELY Frank and Marie, and then all the secondary characters like Ray's writing pals, Gianni, Frank's lodge friends, Robert's partner and ex-girlfriend from Italy Stephana--are just so believable and hilarious!

ELR is the "I Love Lucy" of our time should have the same fate--to be in reruns forever and never die!

@EmceeNolan No, the debut of it is in the pilot episode. In case you didn't know, Ray is the reason Robert developed the chin touch. When Ray was a baby, Robert would watch Marie feed Ray his baby food and it always catch Marie's attention when Ray got food on his chin while eating. So Robert started putting food on his chin(purposely) when he ate to get Marie's attention, IT DIDN'T WORK. Robert did it so often under the stress of being neglected that it became a habit of dealing with stress.

She looks so TINY next to him it's hilarious all by itself- those three couples were golden on the show. Marie and Frank were very grumpy and always bickering, Robert and Amy were the exact opposite and always tried to be as positive as usual to each other, and Ray and Debra were in between.

One of the best shows ever.

Amy was more desperate to be married, than Robert was.

I mean Amy hardly had any luck with men and Robert seemed to be the only one that Amy had a chance with, while plenty of other women loved being around Robert. Robert wanted to be on his own for a while. Amy was tired of being on her own.

Then again, after seeing Amy's parents and brother, I think it's more obvious why she's single. I mean most guys wouldn't be willing to put being part of a family like Amy's. But Robert's different.
