  • I always cry xD

  • So beautiful *-----*

  • so BEAUTIFUL! This should inspire anybody anyday

  • BEAUTIFUL!!

  • bravo BEAUTIFUL

  • Buffered @ 1:59 JUST the right moment ;)

  • FML, I wish I didn't give up ballet....the 374 days of torture is worth the 1 day of putting on a performance like this. I wasn't in a company or anything, just a really good school (for Perth)..with an amazing director.

  • pause at @2:00

    superman!

  • Wonderful, yeah **

  • I'm just listening to part of the music, it was used a lot in the old Dracula and Frankenstein movies. Oh wait I just watched part of this clip and I came to this conclusion the "swans" are pretty but any guy that dresses like this has to be a few degrees/bubbles off plumb.

  • Wasn't there a different ending with Rothbart defeated & Odette living happily ever after with the prince? How many endings to this ballet are there?

  • @beccaotaku At least 5. You can look it up on Wikipedia.

  • Amazing. would love to see this in person

  • OH I Love American Ballet Theatre and Gillian Murphy (Odette-Odile) and Angel Corella (Prince Siegfried)

    And the music of Tchaikovsky

  • Fantastic ending!

  • music from 2:09 onwards gives me goosebumps....

  • Tchaikovsky was the master of passion, makes this fat old bloke wwep every time! yes, shame about the jump but only god (and apparently Mozart) perfect.

  • how does Odette and Sigfried killing themselves also kill Rothbart?

  • that end gives me goosebumps!<3 it's so beautiful that I get tears in my eyes:P

  • dont mean to be rude, but... really, if the prince stopped being an idiot an just punched that stuppid von rudolf or something, they could still be alive -.-

  • Why does Rothbart's hand and arm gestures look like something straight out of a backstreet boys video? UUUGGGHHH.....

  • No No No....that is not issac steppas as the scorceror...that is my Mother-in-Law....and she was not wearing a costume.

  • Love the costumes :-)

  • marAvillosa!!!

  • I absolutely love this version of Swan Lake - perfect to the music. It is an ending of tragedy, but with such hope! The lovers are reunited in the afterlife. I think this is how Tchaikovsky intended it...

  • Oh! radostsguy, I thank you very very much for uploading this marvelous dance! Thanks a lot. You provided me breathtaking moments.

  • perfect ending. so many versions try to change it and make it happy. It ruins it. this is fantastic.

  • 4:21 reminds me of sagi musume :D

  • This was too good to be true.. But it is true.. Amazing..

  • LOL 2mn00

  • Are any of the variations of Swan Lake similar to the ending in Black Swan where only Odette dies?

  • I could be wrong, but this really looks like the version of Swan Lake that I saw a few years ago when it came to the Detroit Opera House and I LOVED it!!!!!!! I love Tchaikovsky and desperately want to go see this ballet again!! Thank you for posting!!

  • I have seen many versions of SL. This one is my fave par excellence.

  • Does anyone know that this is the opening music for Frankenstein,Dracula, and the Mummy.Movies from 1932

  • @packout100 And many other things. It's just a really famous piece of music. That happens a lot.

  • All von Rothbart wanted was a friend. now she dead.

  • Incredible!

  • This gave me chills. Literally.

  • ここまで泣かせるのは今まで生で見たことない気がします…´`私ももっと綺麗に踊れるようになりたい…!

  • The most magnificent end ever!

  • WOW, I LOVE IT!!!

    BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Rothbart at 2:22 "That's it! I'm through with all these damn birds!!!!"

Love the way the corps dances around oblivious to his extreme (and lengthy)death throes.

  • THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THAT I SEE IN MY LIFE!

IS MY DREAM, CAN SEE "SWAN LAKE" IN LIVE.

    TCHAICOVSKY THE BEST!!

  • さすがハリウッドのある国アメリカらしい,最後のシーンですね。ロシアのような、悪魔を倒し現世で二人仲良く結ばれるというストーリーよりはまだましだけど、ちょっと子供騙し風なエンディング。

  • That was sooo beautiful! Specially when the sun rises again and the swan queen and her lover are dancing in the sun...simply made me cry...not to forget the lovely music <3

  • There is another ending. In it, Odette just plucks out a feather, and leaves the poor Prince holding it while she returns to being Queen of the Swans. I don't like that one, because in a way, von Rothbart has won!

  • Wow!Bravo! but jumping jumping of ending.

  • such a beautiful ending :')

  • this makes me horny and like im going to cry at the same time, very stressful...

  • Oh yeah. Von Rothbart was a Sorcerer. (Male equivalent of a Witch.)

  • OK. The "Green Guy" is the villain, Von Rothbart. He is the one who turned these girls into swans in the first place. He had a special liking for Odette, and made her Queen of the Swans. The Prince, Siegfried, met the swan Odette while he was on a solitary hunting party. Odile was Odette with a spell put on her. She was evil as Odile, and Von Rothbart hoped that the Prince would forget her, because she was HIS! Didn't work. The Prince jumped too, for Love. VR died for love of Odette as well.

  • @radostsguy So she killed herself because she couldn't break the spell?

  • I could try to explain the whole thing to you, but I have a better idea. Go to Wikipedia and search for "Swan Lake." They likely have a much better description than I could do.

  • so i love the music and i know a little about this ballet from Black Swan, but can someone explain it to me? who is the green guy and why did the prince jump off of the cliff as well? i thought the reason the white swan princess jumped off was because she loved the prince but he loved the black swan. if that was true why would he jump after her? and why wasnt the black swan in the ending, what happened to her? THANK YOU [:

  • hennimore:

True. Tchai was the master of passion.

Mozart was the master of beauty!

  • @radostsguy mozart is an overrated prick. just like the candy that bears his name.

  • @topperheartramada You know Mozart is overrated? Because he is, in fact, a genius. You cannot change that.

  • @imm0lat10n sure he was a genius. so were all the other classical composers. and sompared to them he's not that great.

  • @topperheartramada I believe your conceived notion can be accepted, but note the other good composers as well: Haydn, Beethoven...

  • beautiful, beautiful ending.

  • Understood! :)

Sorry hennimore, Mozart is the God of music!

  • @radostsguy I adore Mozart too, but the passion of Tchaik's music is unmatchable.

  • this is why i love ballet!

  • Tchaikovsky = best composer of all time!

  • @hennimore1 1 Mozart (most complicated and talented composer of all time) 2 Beethoven (most people can relate to the feelings his music portrays and he was the bridge between classical and romatic music) 3 Handel (very talented) 4 Bach (God of harmony) 5 Tchaikovsky (talented)

  • was anybody else really hoping for a nip slip?

  • @CakyDoll yeah, i remember reading the original story in the 1st grade!! :D my thought were "why wasnt the movie like this? :(" but then i remembered children watch this movie. xD

  • Ich weiß das es immer so ist, aber weshalb tragen Männer beim ballett enge Strumpfhosen wo man dann den Po und alles sieht :o ?

  • Did anyone else laugh at Siegfried's jump?

  • @ballet818 yes :)

  • @ballet818 EXACTLYYYY !!!! IT TOTALY KILLED THE SCENE! but I still love Angel Corella, :)

  • @ballet818 I did. XD It was so comical. LOL

  • @ballet818 i do

  • @ballet818 ...sugar..ballet is for fags... and, fags, we love the "faggy" way Sigfrid jumpssss...

  • Perfect 10 ..Best Finale Ever !!

  • Ok, because of all you guys' superman comments, I can't look at 2:00 normally anymore, he really does look like superman:P

  • The way Odile jumped was so beautiful...

  • if you've gotta throw yourself to your death, at least pose like superman *nods*

  • Comment removed

  • @heartsdesire456 i read this comment before i watched it, and i thought you were weird at first and then i saw the jump and i hardcore laughed for about 293487 hours... well done, i might not have caught that if i didnt read your comment!!

  • silly question (i havnt seen swan lake) but who's the ugly green man meant to be?

  • @helen210290

This is Rothbart, an evil magician who cursed Odette, the swan Queen...

  • @EtakGuuru

    aaah ok thank you :)

  • Von Rothbart was in love with Odette which is why he died in the end. Well, that's my theory anyway! :)

  • Comment removed

  • That’s about as good an ending as you’re going to get. Not perfect, there’s that short section immediately after the double suicide where the music rushes and crescendos - and nothing much happens onstage - before the corps comes to life again, but otherwise a well staged tragic ending. The greatest miracle of all? The ABT corps were together!!! For once! Now if we could just get the Russian companies to do the tragic ending. The music really begs for it.

  • i always like the costume of Von Rothbart, in most versions of swan lake and in black swan the costume was creepy and awesome.

great character too, he is the classic villain with superpowers (magic powers).

  • This seems Heaven.Thank you. Regards, Sergio.

  • Dying to be free, and they love them remain until the end. ♥ ♥ ♥ I just love this ballet!

  • Like!:-)

  • no offense to this girls true talent but see realllyyy looks like natilie portman(sp?)

  • @jme712lime lol how can you compare

  • And the winner is...

    American Ballet Theater...

    Most beautiful legs... 3:45

  • Rothbart's GREEN ! :DD HAHA

  • "AAAAGH I''m faaalling!!!" haha...I seriously love ballet btu that was so funny...

  • This is wonderful

  • Love this version. Gives me the chills!

  • 3:44 on the music is so beautiful

  • Conclusion: I hate ballet despite how many leggy broads are out there dancing lol. It was pretty though but not my thing. I came here for the Tchaikovsky lol

  • @DarthLabyrinth I don't see how you can think that after watching the final scene to swan lake. But to each his own I guess. Ballet ruleZ!

  • @tvprofile Thats true.

  • Hey don't you think when the girl jumps shouldn't it be like a hysterical B major accord instead???

  • I understand who is the White Swan, I understand who is the prince, but... Who's the green creature ? Someone can explains me why this thing wants to separate the prince n tthe swan please ? Thanks !

  • @IziaaB Perhaps you should read more about a ballet before you watch it, then you'll comprehend what they're doing and why.

  • @VampsAreLovee - Perhaps instead of being a smart arse, you could just explain to the person asking OR just don't comment at all if you don't have anything productive to say. Geesh. It's not like it's a secret or anything.

  • @IziaaB Hey it's Rothbard or something he's in love with the girl (Odette) but idk google it i guess i didn't really find anything.

  • @IziaaB Ah it may take a while to explain. He's the guy who turned Odette into a a swan in the beginning and he wants the lovers to stay apart because when they both jump they break the spell on Odette - consequentially overthrowing (and maybe killing?) him. It's not really known why he wants them apart or why he changed Odette into a swan or even really if he is overthrown or not - different ballets interpret it differently. I forget exactly how ABT portrays it.

  • omg! stop dancing about in your man leggings and punch the green motherfucker out!!

  • I do like happy endings for The swan lake, but it isn't the same for me, because when they sacrifice their lives for being togheter and free is truly romantic and pure. I'm not sure how can I explain that, is just an emotion :-9

  • LOL I'm sorry but i just burst out laughing when Seigfried does the superman leap to his death. but i love the tragic endings for swan lake. Not to much of a fan of the happy endings for the ballet of swan lake. the tragedy in swan lake at the end make it more romantic and just makes the story beautiful :)

  • 2:00 The prince's superman leap. :3

  • heres a thought prince siegfried, get out your knife and kill that green monkey!

  • Sin palabras... espectacular!!!!

  • Wow! I kept getting chills - simply wow!!!! :D

Btw: So what happens to the rest of the maidens/swans? Are they freed as well, or do they remain as swans?

  • Shoot I'd wanna jump off a cliff too just to get away from that ugly Prince, but then he goes after me and I'd be like "You Bastered..."

  • its beautiful i almost cried

  • omgg el cuerpo de baile espectacular

  • I've not watched that since I was 3 years old... (I'm 21 now)

  • @Kimmylisous and let me guess... you're here because of "Black Swan"... ugh!

  • What a spectacular production; one of the best. For me, however, the music still soars above everything else, the change to major key is sensational.

  • @MegaJpeck Tchaikovsky is a pure genius <3

  • Stunning. Absolutely stunning.

  • Hmm, I guess I haven't seen enough versions then. When I went to the one done by my local company, they had Odette and the Prince die. But I think Rothbart does die in most versions. He at least collapses in every one I've seen.

  • 3:46 b-e-a-utiful

  • American ballet sucks !

  • American ballect sucks !

  • @nattyia You're an idiot.

  • Rothbart takes too long to die. I prefer versions where he dies right away. Other than that, though, AMAZING!!!!

  • @pointe4Jesus Rothbart doesn't die in any version. The other variations (ie. Mariinsky) have Odette and the Prince live.

  • You cant denie that certain films make people a bit interested in things like black swan is to ballet specialy swan lake. this is first time ive watched anything like this because of BS. just to see wot its like

  • Who choreographed this?

  • I love the tragic endings for swan lake, I know that sounds a little wrong but the happy endings dont work for me so well.

  • @singit4ever5 I agree!

  • @HistorienneDeLis thanks :)

  • @singit4ever5 The tragic endings, especially for the love stories (another example: Romeo and Juliet) are the most 'memorable' ones! Makes the couple's love even more highly romantic sort-of-thing.

  • @music88loverable they are! :) the happy endings in this type of story just dont work. tragic = romantic!!

  • @singit4ever5 Swan Lake is not a joke. Just a masterpiece.

  • @lakelover12345 and you're telling me this because? I never said anything about swan lake being a joke.

  • @singit4ever5

ya my theory is the sad endings are more graceful and beautifal than the happy endings, the idea of longing and wanting that will last into eternity is beautifal.....wow, that got pretty deep.

  • @thereddeath1100 lol that was deep.

  • @singit4ever5

man, and i got an F on my english final? wtf? lol

  • @thereddeath1100 lol I hate it when that happens!!

  • @singit4ever5

ya but my english teacher is like 500 years old and she doesnt like me because i spilled cofee on her(:

  • @thereddeath1100 ouch, that sucks!

  • @singit4ever5 I do agree...

  • what is the title of the song?

  • this is so damn beautiful

  • it is fabulously done!

  • Does anyone know where I can get the whole ballet? Please? It's a gift for my friend =/

  • @HistorienneDeLis It's on DVD on amazon /Tchaikovsky-American-Ballet-Theatre-Corella/dp/B000AYEI9A

  • im crying right now, this is the most beautiful peace of art i have ever seen,

  • WOW! I wish I could have seen this performance in person! :)

  • I don't know much about Ballet, but I can completely appreciate how amazing this is and how much discipline you would need to perform this! Amazing!

  • gave me chills!!!

  • I am abolutely astonished at the impact the movie, and susequently the ballet, has had on me. I think the critical theme of the movie is not limited to ballet as an artform. Van Gogh cut of his ear in search of perfection. Clearly perfection is unobtainable without sacrifice. Sadly for most the cost is deer. The passion however that ensures that one reaches your goals is inspirational. Makes me want to become better at anything I do. By the way can a 25 year old still become a ballet dancer?

  • Oh and by the way, we need to stop making all this drama with black swan. I mean we all came here for differents reasons, right ? I came here because I watched The Barbie movie Swan lake, so yeah...

  • To me the best part of the final is from 3:18 'til the end. The dancers/swans look like they are litterally flying. I'm always struck by how beautiful this is !

  • Thanks for posting radostsguy. Love this ABT production. Seen it at the Met many times. Angel Corella is a great Siegfried. And Gillian Murphy is absolutely stupenda as Odette. Brava. Totally love this girl to pieces.

  • why does the oboist seem unnecessarily syncopated?

  • The corps de ballet is so hauntingly hypnotic - their perfection reduces me to tears with this.

  • we have to remember that aronosky it wasn´t locking for show the best dancers and the best technique (obscurse the movie can compare with the real black swan) but the character its really cool he just want to tell a story

    .

  • one thing I don't like is the gay looking shrek

  • @antongarcia101 Ballet is not for the people who can't appreciate art . You are obviously one of those people . This is why I hate Black Swan , it brings a group of people to something so foreign to them & they can't even appreciate it for what it is . Sad .

  • @VampsAreLovee im just leaving my opinion on the final, btw i like that old virsion of swan lake and i do appreciate art and ballet, i dint ike the new and newer virsion and i can send u a link of the old virsion. the old virsion makes more sence and emotion to this k. im 14 and i appreciat art and ballet

  • @VampsAreLovee Ballet is for anyone who can appreciate beauty and passion. If you disagree, then you're part of the reason why it is (sadly) a dying industry. People are less encouraged to become involved with it because of elitist attitudes like this that push people away from it. If you truly love ballet, you should encourage everyone to give it a try. I always invite friends to my dance recitals - even the ones who "don't read books" or "prefer football" ... Embrace diversity, please!

  • @skyjadeshe I do appreciate ballet , did I say otherwise ? no , thank you ! It's not a dying industry . It's just not appreciated in the US as much as it is in Europe. Maybe you should do a little research before you go and say things , you look stupid. In Europe , ballet is their culture . In the US it's just another dance form , nothing more nothing less. Back your shit up please!

  • @VampsAreLovee You may feel as though you appreciate ballet, but it doesn't seem as though you understand it. Your comment about hating Black Swan because it's drawing a more mainstream audience to ballet is kind of pathetic. You don't own the artform, so how dare you tell people that they don't have a right to want to learn more about it because they saw a movie? Who cares if it's Europe or America - if people are interested in ballet then more opportunities arise for all of us. Grow up.

  • @skyjadeshe Growing up in the ballet world , oh yes I dont understand it at all -.- It's not pathetic , when you love an artform so much... and you see ignorant comments like 'wth are they doing with their arms' then yeah that kinda pisses me off. No one said you had to reply to my comment , so dont bring your shit on my table when you dont even understand. Who cares ? Obviously Europeans do.
