Nobody said that other top guiatrists can't play this, that doesn't mean that she sucks or is not deserving. Someone who is given props by Steve Vai, Santana and handpicked by MJ is not the mark of a mediocre guitarist.

@rockfan621 I miss Jennifer Baten, back when mj chose a guitarist who looked interesting, rather then a boring magazine model. I stand by the original statement. I teach guitar and know a ton of non-bassement dwelling teachers of jazz, rock, etc... and I have never seen or heard her play anything original or interesting. All of the licks I've seen her do a worthy of being in Guitar magazine and not a world class performer. She is not a world class performer, she is a mediocre rock guitarist.

@McMinnManiac I listened to some of her songs and I wasn't a fan personally. They weren't bad it's just that, like a lot of new music, it sounded too polished and tight. I wish modern bands would loosen up a bit. Everything sounds like it's recorded to a click track, quantized, and re-recorded ad infinitum until every little noise and line is exactly in tune. When MJ did that it was natural for him and new. Now it's kind of old.

Either that or I'm turning into an old grump. I'm not sure which.

There are loads of songs she has written that are still unreleased todate. She's planning on placing some of them on the next album. Her skills are not in pop music btw. She's more rock/blues. Problems lie in the music industry. Too many controll freaks in the music industry destroying talent.
