Many people are saying that it was stupid for them to pick the baby deer up, but I don't think that all of them noticed that the deer was found in the MIDDLE of the road.

The doe may leave him there for a few hours, but she won't be far away, just far enough away to be able to see if there's any threat to herself by going in to get her fawn. I have a farm in Missouri and seen it personaly when does hide babies in bush right by our cabin while they feed and later on scoope them up. We don't bother them but I guaranty you they get plenty human scent where they lay . I also think they sense or know that predators won't come so close to humans and that's another reason why they choose to leave them there,safety or so
I picked up a real newborn once (this one isnt one) and the mamma started to chase me and i jumped in the bed of the truck and the thing rammed the side of the truck! haha i didnt see it there i was just helpin the lil fawn get out of a ditch

aint that cute. i went spotlightin not long ago and shot a female roo with a baby in the pouch. i used my last round to kill mum for the freezer and didnt have anythin to club it with seeing as i left the rifle in the ute with my mate about 100 meters away so i had to pick the poor lil bugger up by the feet and wrap him around a tree. not really proud of it but life goes on. plus we have a major prob with roos over here that out number us 2 to 1
