Really well done video! We camped just right above Granite and scouted it late in the evening a few years back and it looked like there was a ribbon of green water right down the center. Because of the timing of the hydroelectric releases, the lower water turned the right side into a huge entry wave and your video captured it nicely. Thanks!!
Fun fact the canyon of the Rio Piaxtla in Mexico is arguably deeper. Hells canyon is 8000 feet deep on one side and 5600 feet on the other. Piaxtla is 7852 on river left and 6000 on river right. If you measure on the smaller side - which I think you should - Piaxtla is deeper.
Love the helmet cam. At high flow I always run the edge of the hole, sometimes over the rooster tail. Green water is clean water and the laterals are just nasty.
thanks for the great video, my father used to raft the snake river for about 15 years. I used to go with him.. this bought a lot of memories for me thank you again. ~Diane
Great job on putting together the video - looks great. Loved the helmet cam view compared to the scouting location view.
Looks like a fairly tricky rapid with those laterals on river right - and I imagine most do not purposely try to hit The Green Room.....
Just ran Lunch Counter down by Jackson Hole at 21K csf. Probably not as tricky a line as Granite, but commercials are flipping on it every day - there is no way to miss some nice laterals...
What was the level at??? We've ran it a few times around 26,000 but neither wild sheep or granite creek looked that gnarly. Nice job on the video.
