I used the HTC Hero for 3 weeks and everything Noah said is true. Its fun, animations and eye candy...good for games, better (but not necessarily faster)browser....But I found myself going back to BB. I can get to everything much faster, more efficiently. BB keyboard is awesome. I couldnt get any yahoo emails pushed to my Hero. Email on BB is well, you know...sick!
This is a dated and somewhat biased uninformed "dogfight". No 3g on the 8900 because of the UMA feature ... I miss UMA; big plus for the Blackberry. Blackberry's are awesome and I think they look great and fit great in the pocket but G1 will outperform it on absolutely every level. G1 is ugly ... but I get way more out of my service fee than I can with the 8900. Function not fashion. G1 has evolved quite a bit from this video, Blackberry is pretty much the same. 2 great phones for sure.
if you connect to your home network through the wifi browser will it still cost money or will it be free because its going through your home network instead of t-mobile?
When you mention the connector thingy, the G1 COMES with the dongle that allows a regular pair of headphones/earbuds to be used, in the box. No need to buy anything more if you have a regular pair of earbuds.
I have the 8900 and I LOVE IT! people say its a business phone and yes it is BUT it has came a long way!!! back n the day blackberrys didnt even have cameras, they where strictly for business people, now they have tons of apps, the email service is excellent, camera is gret with flash and auto-focus gets ur really clear pictures, battery life is good if u close apps down when finished and keep it on standby when ur not using it.and the G1 is so ugly, blackberry curve 8900 is a sexy bitch
Yo, decided to get a g1 recently, but after about 3 hours, I couldn't get to tmobile fast enough to get the blackberry. Blackberry more user friendly and much better. I am not all to thrilled with the whole "touch technology" deal, but, to each its own.
I have had both phones. The G1 had tested better than the blackberry in user friendly ease of use capability. The g1 has come along way. The blackberry seemed to be a bit dated. Everything with the g1 and the blackberry today... is the same and i would prefer the g1 anyday.

invest 10 bucks into one of those chinese batteries that are sold on ebay. i can go for a day and a half without charging using it as my primary music player, running several im clients, and doing a decent amount of web browsing. it can definitely last for 3 days without charging without using the phone like crazy. sure, the large battery gives the g1 an ugly camel hump, but it's well worth it.
the g1 is better. every blackberry is basically the same . the only thing i wuld say is better about the blackberry is the camera and the battery life but with amazing apps liek picsay on the g1 who needs a better camera. G1!!!!!!

Have to disagree with the idea that Android isn't mature enough. I've already gotten apps on vanilla Android that I couldn't get on Pre or Blackberry and in some cases, the Iphone. Now that I've rooted my phone, Android is my phone OS of choice with webOS coming in a second.

No one will ever beat the iphones touch screen, but the thing about the g1 is that its like free you can do way more stuff and have different files. Actually Apple's iphone's touch screen was made with HTC's technology. That's why if you look at all their phones its always "touch" something. Thats the reason the ipod got the "touch" added to it. The g1 happens to be made by htc, its uglier, but the iphone is shinier
It's a shame that all the applications really don't work out yet. Needs a couple of more year to perfect this. G1 is pritty slow sometimes.. so you wanna throw it out of the window.

just by the looks of it the bb is much clearer than the other phone. I happen to have the curve and i LOVE it...however I have had a bb in the past. i do like the size of the screen on the other phone than the bb but over all bb wins by far, imo. i can use gmail on my bb just fine.

The G1 has the big screen that has a wow factor in the way you can swipe the screen and see the items glide across at a different speed than the background. It also has the best of all worlds. It has the scroller ball, the big touch screen, and the keyboard. It also has the qualities of a feature phone and smartphone mixed together. The 8900 is a slick and quick phone that just works really well and does a lot. I think it depends what matters to the person.
If I were with T-mobile I'd go with the G1, but I've recently switched to Verizon from Sprint and am debating between the tour and the env touch or sticking with my red world blackberry.
G1 is betta! i dont have one but my friend lets me use it so often that it feels like mine... so yeah its fast and stuff and i def like the touchscreen and big keyboard
Yeaah, its a good phone but it has a few problems such as that you cannot send things via bluetooth and when you get a message it doesnt open up on home screen you have to go into the notifications part, but apart from that 5*
I had the g1 for awhile and just switched to the 8900. The 8900 runs alot smoother and looks way sexier then the g1 on any day. Its small, email on it is great, the camera rocks. However I miss my g1 and intend on going back to the g1. textin on the 8900 makes my fingures sore, the web browsing to me is way way better on the g1 with the new cupcake update for the g1 it makes the g1 run smoother and less buggy. Over all i have to say G1 not to mention its touch screen!

The G1 is a good phone allot of the guys who club promote with me swear by it. I love the touchscreen and everything along those lines. But really come on people, BB are the staple of people who are successful professionals. I live in NYC I see lawyers, doctors, wall street excs, club promoters all with BB shit my girls a film producer and her and all her friends have BB. If ur an underling go ahead and grab the G1, when ur ready to be a boss grab a BB.

yea.. Like I ussually like your reviews and watch them. But this was redic. they don't even have 3g.. They aren't open source so they get half the apps we get.... Can they even root their phone? just by the looks of it the bb is much clearer than the other phone. I happen to have the curve and i LOVE it...however I have had a bb in the past. i do like the size of the screen on the other phone than the bb but over all bb wins by far, imo. i can use gmail on my bb just fine.

The G1 has the big screen that has a wow factor in the way you can swipe the screen and see the items glide across at a different speed than the background. It also has the best of all worlds. It has the scroller ball, the big touch screen, and the keyboard. It also has the qualities of a feature phone and smartphone mixed together. The 8900 is a slick and quick phone that just works really well and does a lot. I think it depends what matters to the person.

Yeaah, its a good phone but it has a few problems such as that you cannot send things via bluetooth and when you get a message it doesnt open up on home screen you have to go into the notifications part, but apart from that 5*

I had the g1 for awhile and just switched to the 8900. The 8900 runs alot smoother and looks way sexier then the g1 on any day. Its small, email on it is great, the camera rocks. However I miss my g1 and intend on going back to the g1. textin on the 8900 makes my fingures sore, the web browsing to me is way way better on the g1 with the new cupcake update for the g1 it makes the g1 run smoother and less buggy. Over all i have to say G1 not to mention its touch screen!
