Helo Viewer, The guardian deity that you refer to is called "Madurai Veeran". He is the village deity and a great devotee the Goddess (Sakthi).

thanx for the info. i've been searching the net for hindu gods and tried to search for all the ayya deities but only came across a few, eg. muneeswaran, karapusamy, sangili karapan, madurai veeran... how many are there actually? i did some minor research and found out there are 7 munis from lord shiva. a temple near my place has 2 deities called karupana swamy on the right and katavaraim on the left (not sure about the spelling) but i can't search for it in the net. any suggestion...? thanx
