  • Minute Physics?

  • so u guys succeeded in matching the computations with the experiment, what next?

  • Hello Fellow Engineers

  • so so awesome

  • The moments of pauses, lasting longer than they should, show how........unprepared-------------our presentation---------was.

  • Why are you holding a newspaper?

  • 素晴らしい。 可視化された流体がYouTubeで簡単に見れるなんて。実験的なものも計算によるものも。

  • If you ever followed a semi tractor trailer on a motorcycle you don't need to see these experiments, you can plainly feel the air currents changing and buffetting you from side to side. You brainiacs made a nice video, thanks for sharing. Fluid dynamics, and air for that matter, are so intresting.

  • lol this made me laugh a lot, mr president at the end!

  • '

why use black / white film with bad shierk lines

  • This video was a required assignment in a graduate level fluids class. We made it look this way to emulate another fluids video we watched in class on turbulent flow. So for those of us that suffered through that video, this one is kinda funny.

  • Haha... I'm gonna draw on the board in two colors to indicate flow. But we're gonna show it in black and white. This'll be awesome!

  • um... cool video, nice results, but it is spelled "Visualization" not "Visualizatoin"

  • @ivandewolf it's spelled "spelt". visualisation=english, viualization=american

  • @alexhamster1134 Soooo muuuch language fail.

  • @lygerzero0zero dont confuse typing errors with incorrect spelling ;)

  • @alexhamster1134 Your comment's a bit vague; I hope you realize I meant you.

First off, "spelled" and "spelt" are both valid (in fact my spell check marks "spelt" but not "spelled") but "spelt" is more common in the UK.

Second off, ivandewolf was not pointing out US/UK spellings. He was pointing out a typo. I'm sure you're devastated at missing the chance to show us stupid Americans that other varieties of English exist, but I'm afraid that's just not the case here.

  • @lygerzero0zero before i saw the typo i was overcome with a sudden urge to correct the butchering of the english language! :D zation, color....ooo i say.

  • @lygerzero0zero ..like. totally. (chews gum).

  • This is preatty cool. Good Job guys :)

  • what type of fluid did u used? and what software is that?

  • it's incompressible by the looks of it (I have no sound here)

    the software is FLUENT 6.*

  • @mamatdeep

    Fluid -- Water

    Software -- Fluent

  • you do, if you fly a plane whose wings fall off.

  • Nice conclusion!

    lol.

  • This is pretty good. I've been trying to use openFoam to get the drag of a cylinder and my numbers aren't anywhere close to reality. I'll have to check my vortex shredding frequencies against your equation / chart to see how well that matches.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Fluent has lot many flaws in itself....the very software used for this demo ;).

  • computational methods (including computer codes) have not reached perfection and a lot more work still needs to be done. For a layman this illustration is ok. It is not uncommon to see people validating codes i.e. doing experiments and computations and comparing results, however computations alone have still lot of flaws. So..when science is explained one must also highlight what it lacks in present times.

  • So what is the way to go? Unbiased or particle based simulation like nextlimits Xflow?

  • @heavyweather NERD!!!!!

  • LOL...

from a 14teen year old that watches CFD related videos!!!

  • @heavyweather thats creepy how u know my age

  • i honestly have no idea what i just saw, but some how i learned something about renalds numbers affecting the vortecies coming out the other end of the other side of the cylinder.

NOW, i have to figure out what i can do with this information LOL

  • Woo! Go University of Utah!

  • do you all have to be so fucking loud? Good work overall.

  • What a shame the only surviving print containing those priceless lectures is so badly damaged.

  • haha burn

  • As a world-renowned psychic, I am authorized to tell you that the spirit of von Karman has given a hearty thumbs up to this effort. It was about 3 AM last night, when I was awoken by similar periodic sounds from my upstairs neighbors, that I was visited by the good doctor's spirit and asked to convey this message. Well done lads!

  • What?

  • ....quelle gifted public speaker.... *LLL*

  • good stuff

  • in 02:15 where comes the colored fluids?

  • como lograron que salieran dos flujos de tinta?? y ademas que tinta emplearon??
