  • come si fa a cantare cercando di star seduti?

  • Shame the vid and the sound are out of tune. Otherwise ++++++

  • bravissimi, interpretazione perfetta

  • Very beautiful, natural voice. Excellent performance of both, I like it very much!

  • Why does she sit?

  • There should 6 verses

  • Cum again! these volks think that when they sing "renaissance" music (zmuch there was any renaissance in evilland--u should thank Shaker-spear guy) they should convult their voices like jellyfish's drappery in speed motion and acid.

  • @hallobaaaby Very interesting, pleases, go on!

  • hehehe, this song is so dirty!

  • @Bassman911 actualy the song isn't dirty the orginal ong was about a woman who wasn't in love with a man and he says how he''ll die without her and how she is a bitch..this doesn't have the fulllyrics

  • her voice is amazingggggggg omfg

  • Thank You for this piece of music! Renaissance has a truly unique touch and subtle beauty!

  • @Domzdream This is not opera.

  • @MrvlZmb

    What is it then?

  • @Domzdream It's a song. Dowland wrote hundreds. Opera is a theatrical performance set to music.

  • @MrvlZmb

nah. Not for me. BUt hey....enjoy it.

  • this is so beautiful <3

  • very beautiful voice!

  • You guys are superstars! I have been watching and all your videos are filled with an energy that comes through the screen! Thank you so much for being a part of Youtube!

  • One of the most beautiful renditions of Dowland's work I've heard. Bravi, Ms. Mignaco and Mr. Marin.

  • this concert is wonderful, very good!!!

  • Can anyone send me a scan of the Sting/Karamazov transcription of Dowland's "Come Again" (from "Songs from the Labyrinth")? I've ordered the book but need this transcription asap. Thanks! dedododo [ at] me [dot] com

  • I love the way the singing is "acted". Charming as hell!

(also this is my favourite John Dowland composition <3)

  • Beautiful. Both the voice and guitar. Probably the best version I've ever heard. Wish the audio were in sync with the video though.

  • why is she sitting?? when you're singing you need to stand up!!

  • @o0OHermioneO0o Listen to her voice then say that :)

  • @logosthedestroyer i wasn't saying that she doesn't sing well, i can only tell from my own experience that standing up while singing is much more comfortable. it is important to be "rooted" to the floor, that way you can "feel" what you're singing... that is so hard to explain in english! :D

  • @o0OHermioneO0o I know what you mean; I sing too and do prefer to stand up. But, I think it was more traditional for singers of this era to sit as part of an ensemble. And I know the concept of 'rooting' is something which can be adjusted to suit any posture. I know of an excellent singer who performs in her wheelchair. It's all about habit and practice.

  • @logosthedestroyer i guess you're right - it's all just a matter of habit and practice! ^^ and if it was traditional in this time to sit while singing, it would explain why this performer is sitting. thanx for the explanation! :)

  • maybe she should work more on her terrible English accent. I suggest more Emma Kirkby listening...

  • That is just nasty. Her gorgeous accent lends the music an added charm. This as good as it gets. The only thing I would change is to have her sing standing for better vocal projection.

  • Many professional singers do not have a very good English accent, and I daresay that singers whose native tongue is English tend to have truly horrid French, German, Italian and Latin accents. Even listening to professional choirs singing in Latin, there is a huge variety in their pronunciation depending on their native tongue. To sum up - it's music, lighten up dude.

  • perhaps you wouldnt like evwen Jonnys accent!

  • @MegaUnloveable apt name you've chosen there MU

  • sonng by song i love you more and more...Valeria..

  • Really good. Sting covered this song

  • Come again! Sweet love doth now invite

    Thy graces that refrain

    To do me due delight,

To see, to hear, to touch, to kiss, to die,

With thee again in sweetest sympathy.

Great performance. Thanks for the upload.

  • An outstanding rendition of a 'virginal' voice.

    Thanks for posting!

  • bravo Valeria, saludos desde Rosario, Argentina

  • this is brilliant, her voice & accent just remind of the vocalist of the Blackmore's Night band.

  • English pronunciations and AV sync aside, what an amazing voice and performance! Thanks for posting.

  • video doesn't match the sound. Notwithstanding this is beautiful.

  • simply NICE.wonderful

  • Oh, dear. TTTru TTai unkind disdain. She has a most beautiful voice. Her th's need work though. The th you hear in "thy" is not he same sound as you hear in "think". One is voiced and the other is not. Easiest way to make the sound for a nonenglish speaker is to make the s sound and bring the tongue forward so that it touches the teeth. ssssssssss ththththththththth

  • She's amazing!!!! Beautiful voice!!!!

  • both Valeria and Alfonso have stepped up to the mark and produced a great performance

  • Voca GRANDIOSA. Ottimi movimenti. Davvero ottima.

  • i like the texture of the singer's voice, very smooth wile solid ...

  • This is my favorite John Dowland right now. This was terrific. -Ron

  • Hallo Ron, I love this song very much, too. It is so great to sing Dowland t an classical guitar. I must buy tabs for it :-)

    Anette

  • Really? Cause I can understand every word.

  • I can understand everyword too, maybe it's just your ears son

  • The accent is great, she is pretty and a lovely singer. A perfect combination

    I can understand her perfectly.

  • its not HER accent. The song is by John Dowland, and he lived in London from the late 16th to the early 17th century. So its written in "old" English. She is just performing it right. :)

  • I agree with all here that she sings it beautifully. I'd just say though that I can't hear any "old English" accent in her singing. Her accent sounds just like a perfect modern, standard english one to me (speaking as an English person)

  • Since there's no-one alive who has heard an Old English accent, I'd like to know how you would recognise one...and, to be exact, Shakespearean English was Early Modern English...

  • I don't understand what your quibble is. I said it sounds modern, that's all I said. What, you think this is an old English accent? Perfected by a modern day Italian woman? I really don't know what you're saying.

  • We agree that she sings it beautifully! What I'm saying is that, if you are seeking authentic ancient performance, you will never find it. We will never know how the music sounded then, nor how they sounded when they spoke. Our interpretations of the music are always through 21st century filters.

  • @olegboleg Actually, Old English is much earlier(spanning from roughly 450-1300). Dowland, living in the early seventeenth century (and an exact contemporary of Shakespeare) spoke what is considered early modern English.

  • @olegboleg To be even more picky, English after 1500 is considered modern English (even though as you say Dowland, Shakespeare and others sound a bit different to us).

Old English was spoken in the early middle ages (after the Romans left Britain) and is also know as Anglo - Saxon. It sounds more like Norse than any English we know. ;)

  • @MarcelGomesPan old English is Germanic

  • @alanbstard4 I believe it's actually Fresian, Monsieur B'Stard. English of the 15th century is not that far off modern Fresian.... a little more Dutch than German, so to speak. Chaucer is an example of this worth noting.

  • @The1stBaby Germanic, as opposed to strictly German, which includes English, Dutch, Fresian etc, but I take your point

  • @olegboleg not old English, which is the other name for Anglo Saxon. Middle English, maybe

  • amazing!!! and then she is so cute!!!

  • I'm writing from Peru. I love listening to Baroque music and music before the seventeen century. I will be waiting for your CD and, please, how can I get here in Peru this CD and more information from your works?

  • this isnt baroque. its rennesanse

  • the man/woman said he/she likes music before 17c.

  • bellissimo!!!! complimenti!!!

  • hermosa obra hermosa mujer, muy buen laudista.

    Salute!

  • bravo!

  • Sehr schön gemacht! Gratuliere! Ich liebe den

Anfang des drittes Wiederholung. Haben Sie irgendwann Konzerte in Deutschland?

    Viele Grüsse, Israel Vazquez

  • your pretty,

  • Beautiful!

  • he escuchado muchas versiones esta es la que más me gusta

  • I agree! This was really beuatiful!

  • Heavenly!!!

  • I'd Simply *LOVE* to hear this in its entirety... Shame this vid only stats as of the 2nd verse. I love this interpretation...

@Lutevoice: Is there any way for me to hear this song (your perfrmance, that is) in its entirety? Been looking 'round on your site and all, but it's not on your cd. That's a pity, really, because I'd love to order that as well. I saw you were actually based in The Netherlands. Is that true, cos I am as well...

  • Dear slashtiger, the reason for the lack of the 1st verse is that the person recording did not have his camera ready at the beginning of the concert. We will be releasing a CD in December featuring this song with all its verses. Yes, we live in Amsterdam. Thanks for your comment!

  • simply perfect!

  • wonderful voice + really pretty! =)

    i love it!

  • Maravilhosa!!!

  • Maravillosa interpretación: expresión, sentimiento, dicción, estilo y técnica! Y un excelente lutista acompañante...

  • Wonderfull!!!
