Eso no es windows por si no sabes, eso viene en los paquetes de instalacion de ubuntu, vas a "Aplicaciones>Añadir y Quitar> Buscas "efectos de escritorio y marcas administrador de compiz fusion y das aplicar cambios y ya!

I run Ubuntu 7.10 (64-bit) with an Athlon64 1.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM and a Geforce 6600GT.

Here with me, CompizFusion looks less spectacular than on many of these videos (I am not a linux expert), but it is still the most amazing thing I have ever seen on a computer, including my 1st-generation iMac G5 - sorry Steve ;-)

If you are new in linux, then Ubuntu (or Kubuntu) is a perfect choice: no problems at all (like with openSUSE...).

Believe me: if you want to try linux, then you WANT CompizFusion.

Have you downloaded the "Advanced Desktop Effects Settings"? It's in add/remove programs (or synaptic, apt, aptitude, whatever you prefer). It lets you set even more effects than the standard "Extra" effects.

Ubuntu is free. Next month they will be releasing 9.04 and the public beta is already out. The latest full (not beta) release is 8.10 (number before period is year and after is month). Simply put the disk in your computer and boot up. You can run it off the cd to see if you like it and then install it. Upon install, you can either partition it to take the whole drive or dual boot with whatever OS you already have installed.

go to your terminal and type "sudo apt-get install gtk-recordmydesktop" or the GUI way is to go (on your panel) to System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager and do a search for "recordmydesktop". select "gtk-recordmydesktop" and it should automatically select "recordmydesktop" and any other package you will need. If there's anything else that you need help with (anything at all) in Ubuntu let me know!

Why? Why another Ubuntu/Compiz video? If you're going to make one, SHOW HOW IT'S USEFUL!! Who cares if you can draw graffiti on the desktop? Who cares if you can make little rain drops form. Try opening 12 aps, 2 or 3 of which should be movies, all on 1 desktop, Super+E to expo and start draging them to other desktops, spacing them out, situating them. Then go to each desektop, group and tab them, switch around through the tabs, group all your Pigeon convos w pigeon,all sites together, etc

Easiest way to enable it is to go into compiz configurator (ccsm at terminal/command/Run Command) - If i were home I could give you the exact tab, but look for one that says "rotate cube" - Enable that and you have to actually enable "Desktop Cube" - In there you can configure settings from whether to make it a cube, a sphere, or a cylinder (sphere and cylinder are new) - If this doesn't solve it for you, try #compiz on the default server ubuntu signs you onto in IRC - Someone there WILL know.

i just did it today, on my friends PC, he switched from mint, he runs 512-and a 256, but one of his ram slots was dead, worked fine, ubuntu only takes like 325 ram, and compiz is like 70, depends.

Compiz is not old. Beryl is, you have already been told that. Also, the Graphics could be a bit of a strain on your CPU, but you do not need a "Super Computer" to run them. And, it could be used for more than just impressing, after all, Linux is a MultiTasking Operating System. It can handle that, and much more. All you need is a working Graphics Card, which, comes included with most of the computers bought today.

Win XP IS Windows, and no, you don't need Windows for Ubuntu to work. Ubuntu IS an operating system. It's what you install instead of Mac's OS10 or Windows XP/Vista/7. Ubuntu is just one flavor of linux, and if you're going to get into linux, it's a good flavor to taste. Great place to start for the novice/newcomer. Mind you, it's a great place to stay too, as it's a fully functional linux distro. Happy Computing!
