This engine is an HA4 fitted a MEU (moisture extractor unit) developing 44BHP at 1800rpm let me have the engine no (plate on air cowling below the words Lister Diesel if missing it is stamped on the rim of the flywheel. The engine no. sample eg 167HA417 ie the 167th engine type HA4 17 means 1967 if as you suggest was built in 1959 it would be HA47 which is unlikely as they did not produce the 4 cylinder unit until 1961. Ex Lister engineer 1960's
@jacktalbot I would gladly give you the information but I don't work there anymore. I was told by my boss at the time it was approx 50 years old so as you say it could have been made in 1961. If I go back there I will have a look at the plate on the cowling
@kickass4510 it's a stationary engine mounted on its original trailer so you can move it with a tractor or anything that has a jaw hitch. It's got a big fan attached to the back of it for drying hay bales. You stack your small hay bales with air spaces in them and park it in front of them and let it run 24 / 7 fuel consumption is about 40 Gallons a day at full speed. and its got a PTO on the front to run an irrigation pump.
ran one of these for years, drying hay. Fuel consumption varied with the load, as the hay dryed it got lighter, but about 40 gals a day at full speed. Heavy fan connected directly to the back of the engine, but it started easy, great sound, used to keep the neighbours awake!
@BurtBartlow got to admit id say you are correct. electronics usually dont last. the engine by itself ? sure. but the electronic parts most engines rely upon i doubt i
@jayeastanglia The buton was pulled out but it runs on a 5 gallon drum of diesel and it ran out so there was still some air in the system after we bled it through. normally it starts first push of the button
@wagner59270 no it's got a big fan attached to it for drying hay bales. You stack your small hay bales with air spaces in them and park it in front of them and let it run 24 / 7. But we got it to park infront of our log stacks and blow air through them.

Take any engine made in 2011 and see if it starts this well in 2061. Bet it won't.

You will find it will start much easier if you pull the little button out on the fuel pump.
