I want an obedient dog that is not too hard to train. As i mentioned already I really want a dog that has lap dog traits. Should I get a West Highland Terrier or an English Cocker Spaniel? I'd prefer answers from people who own either of the breeds. Thanks.

@crazy6omen I own westy, we trained her very well and she is really smart, but they can be quite nippy and senstive about where you pet them. Well mine is anyway. We don't let people outside the house pet her just incase she snaps at them but when you build a bond with them they are so affectionate. Also they have the worst farts and love attention, my dog is a complete attention seeker. She will do anything for a tummy scratch.

I have a westie, it's an adorable, but very spirited race, with a lot of personality, but it's a very loyal companion, rarely barks, my 1yo niece absolutely loves her, as her owner does. Not to mention, you have to meet one up close to know how beautiful it actually is.

Aww i went to an animal rescue center and found one of these dog and my parents were gonna buy it for me but the man that works their said that when they found the dog it had a collar and the owners keep saying they'll come but they never do and he said it will go on sale on friday so i hope they dont come and get the dog before them lol i also have a cairn terrier dog at the moment who is as gentle as a fly :)

Westy = ultimate pet dog. Unfortunately ours died about 2 years ago (RIP Lucy)

But good news, we have mourned long enough, and will be chasing around 2 new dogs in teh next month or so. 1 Westy pup and 1 Dandi Dinmont terrier.

We did want 2 dandies, but they are HARD to find.

Long live the terriers!
