Dats what im talking about right there. I dumped my Sp12 because I couldnt put up with C64 floppies to load all my song data :v, but man does the SP12 sound amazing, the filters really made that sampler.
Salute! I need vintage sampler. I wanted to buy s950 but i need more than 8sounds polyphony, so i think about s1100. Do u use your s1100 for drums? Can u text a name of song where u used this sampler?
@iggyds89 True DAT,,, Akai and Emu are the absolute best samplers PERIOD... forget this software "In box" garbage. A little word to the wise,,, EMU Emax and later samplers can hold drum kits with more warmth than Akai does, I would say the Akai S series are the better of any Akai samplers,,, having both Akai and EMU is the best combo. The Fairlight CMI lll is just as clean sound as the S1100.
Dope! But what most people forget is that even though the 1100 is 16 Bit it still sounds fatter and nicer than Akai's newer 16 Bit models, The S-1000 especially sounds really nice and gritty for a 16bit stereo sampler.
what's so special about hooking up the sp with a s1100? Every 16 bit sampler can be used. The sp12/1200/s950 are kinda special sound-wise because they use 12bit technology..
@MegamartNL You have to remember the options available at the time. NOW every 16 bit sampler can be used however back then this was not the case. The S series was one of the first available to to the consumer market and the timing was right when the sp released. Besides that, you have the argument of HOW beats were made, and the end result. Whoever has a reason to use what they use better back it up with dope beats. I know I can.
At the time the s1100 was the top of the line model from Akai, it was really expensive. I think that's one of the reasons that you didn't see them as much as the s900/950's.
I think it's a beautifull machine and I'ts nice to see a sp1200/s1100 video..
@loopwholetube what up loop hahah -- they still ain't correct the title of this movie... totally misleading! SP-12 had 2.5 seconds... SP-12 turbo had 5 seconds.
Nice piece of classic Hardware (Akai mpc 60, Emu sp12, Akai s1100 and Akai mpc 3000). There's only missing an Ensoniq EPS classic, Akai s950, Sequential Circuits Studio 440 and the Linn 9000 :) Respect for that what you are doing!
