Man I sure remember those days use to come home from school and watch the old spider man on channel 2 and most of those commercials would air I'n between episodes damn what I would do to be 10 again!!!!!
Those Coleco arcade games sucked. The teenaged employee at one of our local drugstores told us Coleco was coming out with a Pac Man game, and that it was going to be exactly like the arcade game. When they finally arrived (which seemed like waiting forever), it was a total letdown. I got one anyway, but it was pretty lame. @periechontology If in 80's commercials was happy, today commercials are in anti-depressants in unprecedented numbers...But commercials in future?Maybe they will be sad
the best thing about the 80's where the arcades and the malls and the movies.. i wasent even born yet but i wanna see the 80......... i was born in '96
@fishingboy11 you definitely missed quite a bit ;) i was born in 1980. i saw the beginning of the ninja turtles cartoon, beginning of transformers , go bots, saw the 3 turtle movies the day they came out ;). that was in the 90's though. the music was one of the best of all the decades. i love 80's music. basically 80's music is what techno and trance and all that stuff is today.
highest rated comments make great points being a kid today would almost seem boring. the commercials didnt have nearly the "hidden messages" they do today. i'm a child of the late 70's/early 80's and tween/teen of the mid to late 80's so i am not old by any stretch and commercials and network programming and commercials today have not only hidden messages attempting to reach people psychologically nut blatantly out in the open...especially the network programming. I never watch TV except sports
@teecuzbruh Agree. I was a child of the 70s. The commercials were brilliant in the 70s because they were subtle. Examples include the Coca Cola " I'd like to see the whole world sing " commercial, the indian with the tear drop in his eye, the Budweiser clydesdales, among dozens of others.
couldn't agree more-this was before the advent of nafta, you could easily find made in usa clothing, appliances. most electronics were either made in japan, with some in korea.

@ScorpioBornIn69 We had the G.I generation in charge back then. They were too patriotic to export American jobs to China. Most of these Baby Boomers and Gen X assholes that are in charge now don't give a shit.
@SatansMullet well, they were advanced for that era, duh. in another 20 years or so, our children are going to be laughing at our "advanced" technology. imagine it!!
the psa around 7:00 - I was actually just thinking of that (and the other one with tweety and the bath tub about turning cold water on first) because I grew up watching this but now I have a baby of my own.
i have 3 of those mini arcade games: pac-man donkey kong and galaxia, 1 got from my uncle, found it from cleaning the storage (still works!) the other 2 are from garage sales! (the video works but the controls are a little mess up)

@Idoljunky32 Agreed. The cartoons were the best. I remember waking up on Sat morning at 6:00am to watch cartoons. I would then play outside the rest of the day.
Growing up in the late 70's thru the 80's were such great memories. You got up at 7am, watched Saturday morning cartoon while eating Cookie Crisp or Captain Crunch, then at around 10am you went outside and actually played and interacted with your friends. You'd play baseball, football or kickball, helped your dad build a clubhouse for you and your friends. You used your imagination outside!
LOL, those table top arcade games were a joke. Notice how they didnt show how any of them actually play in the commercial. I fell for the Donkey Kong one. They were just flashing pre-lit ights that moved through preset screens. Never got that Simon game either. Just seemed like a stress maker to me. Anybody remember the late 70;s Die-cast Shogun warriors that were BEFORE the Transformers?
@spraymalathionjerry -&they were KICKASS!! lol The heavy- diecast1s had spring-loaded fisted forearms that shot off like a foot&a half! Great4knocking out eyes/teeth! LOL!.&they were indestructable! Dino Pebbles cereal was the biggest cereal flop ever. Why? Dino Pebbles sound like something Fred would pick up off his lawn than something you would want to eat
OMG I loved the cookie crisp commertials wow and Transformers, more then meets the eye oh yeah I freaked out how the public service one came on I so remember that excellent video
I had the qubert tabletop, my sister had donkey kong, my brother popeye. That was the best Christmas ever!!!! I took mine to school, I was the hit of the lunchroom.. I love the 80's!!!!!!!!
LOL.... many hours of fun with Simon!! And talk about brilliant marketing with those coleco table top games. They never show what they look like in the commercial. Even when I was 11 they were pretty awful!.
I loved the Atari. I was a teen in the 80's and I rolled Space Invaders over. Wish I could do that again.. but I don't have time to play games.. and I don't have the fast button pushing fingers anymore.. Dad Gum Age Coming up on me!!! UGGGGHHHH .. yeah.. I am OLD!!!

Dino Pebbles cereal was the biggest cereal flop ever. Why? Dino Pebbles sound like something Fred would pick up off his lawn than something you would want to eat

LOL.... many hours of fun with Simon!! And talk about brilliant marketing with those coleco table top games. They never show what they look like in the commercial. Even when I was 11 they were pretty awful!.
