The laser in Goldfinger deserves to be number one it proves that bond isn't dependent on his gadgets, cars or other things heroes in movies use today. Bond was striped from anything and he successfully got of it by using his charm, wit and definitely cool, this is the real James Bond
One downside is that his last film became too cheesy BUT that was the fault of the script writers IMO. I think PB had a lot of the "fleming" Bond in him (he was tough and eligant yet also flawed) however also was a great "cinematic" Bond (could deliver the audience pleasing one liners effectively). Craig is ok but its a fact he doesn't resemble the Fleming Bond physically.
Personally id have put the ski jump at number 1. To me that sums up everything abt Bond, an action man and a real Brit. Plus its a damn spectacular sequence and represents the pre-CGI days when most things were done for real.
My best moment is from Octopussy after James and one of the knife throwing twins falls off the train. A chase occurs and Bond tries to escape from a doorway when a knive hits Bonds shirt. The twin says "this is for my brother" and dashes and misses Bond when 007 picks up the knife, kills the twin and says, "and that's for 009".
Connery was good but as I'm a a guy that likes modern over retro I am biased in opinion but I think both Brosnan and Craig are great - Brosnan with all the charm and Craig with the toughness of Connery but a more athletic kind of role too
Roger is the most "gentlemanly" Bond, which is part of the character that many others struggle with. But its part of how Bond should be played.
Each actor was good at different parts of James Bond. Connery was cool. Lazenby was athletic. Moore was a gentleman. Dalton was serious. Brosnan was suave. Craig is tough.
Roger was never very good at fight scenes, I'll say that.
Connery was the detached Bond, never committing to anything except as the mission directed. Moore was the High English, foppish Bond with the dryest wit. Lazenby was the needy Bond, the Bond with the least backbone. Dalton was the quixotic Bond, the one least apt to have the best plan and instead charge in headfirst, guns blazing. Brosnan was quickwitted, suave, probably the one closest to the written Bond. Craig is a midget, angry and short, with no control in any situation.
Um..yeah. Brosnan was closest to the written Bond as done by Fleming, regardless of what critic's reviews you read. His dialogue in the movies is not written to match the style done in the novels I have read, but his mannerisms, quirks and flaws are all represented best by Brosnan. Craig is too much of a product of this century, far too severe, too gritty, too overly physical and doesn't resemble the written Bond physically.
@soniclore I do kind of agree with you actually and I have read the fleming books myself. Physically PB resembles the Bond in the books, he has that eligant look to him, which I think Fleming would have wanted. He is someone who, as well as being a killer, can be a charmer and a lover. He moves with grace and style, all points which go towards a great Bond.
An interesting, well-thought out opinion. Me, personally, I was entertained by all the actors that have portrayed England's loyal Terrier James Bond. :) No need to overthink something that is just disposable fun.
Mee too, Daniel and Pierce didn't really get a chance due to the heavy reliance of modern technology in those movies. But Roger is perhaps the worst because he wasn't even good without these problems.

i gave 3 stars bc it couldve been better. for instance u cut out in the middle of sentences and 1 segment even has dialogue repeated from the last. also at the end we get to see whats coming on next. WHY is this relevant?
I saw one thing that wasn't right in that boat chase when I saw it in theatres back in 1999. There was a major continuity error when Bond fires the torpedoes. In the long shot, the top one fires first, but when they close up on it, the top one is still there and the bottom one has been fired.
Heres's the thing yo.People keep saying that brosnan is your favorite. The only reason people say PB is there favorite is because these people grew up in the time brosnan was bond. Now,no matter what brosnan will be my favorite always, but he's not the best. And yeah die another day was horrible,it started off great but was horrible.
thatss not really true, i already saw in him a good JB when he played Remington Steel, he couldnt get out of contract, so Timoth and later they came back to him
Other than "Sean Connery," this definitely proves that "Pierce Brosnan" is the best Bond ever. He appears in two of the "best Bond moments," driving the tank, ranking #4, and driving the speedboat rank #2. He should remain as James Bond (not Daniel Craig).
Yes, but Brosnan was too old my friend. He looked slightly old in "Die Another Day", and he's almost 55 now! No, Daniel Craig is a great Bond, but I think that Clive Owen and Hugh Jackman probably would have been better choices.
I bet Sean is loaded in that interview.

Even Christopher Lee, a cousin of Ian Fleming, said Pierce was the closest. I think Dalton and Connery are also pretty close though.

Brosnan is 100% the FARTHEST from Fleming's Bond. What books did you read? Craig is close but Dalton is the closest we have yet seen.
