all this stuff about God is just hurting me, but when i really read the old testament, most of it is about God hurting and killing people not the devil, but when i ask my pastor he just plainly say because those people were evil, so i asked him what about the babies that were killed in the old testament by God, were they also evil too and he couldnt answer, and why does God demand us to give him stuff before he helps us, its almost like paying for his protection whats going on
@zipitup75 Those people that were ordered killed by God were not human. There is a mystery in the bible about the fallen seed of satan who mingled with the seed of men. A movie like "They Live" is telling in this topic. YHWH was actually killing hybrids, it wasn't just because they were evil. Satan tried to contaminate the human race. What good reasons, when gnostics claim that Jesus' age of thirty before his ministry indicates the existence of 30 Aeons, thats baseless.
When they claim that Jesus taught his disciples for many years after the crucifixion (just stating that in a text over 150 years later that contradicts earlier texts) what good reasons can be in that.

The Great Pronouncement by Simon Magus or one of his followers preserved by Hipploytus in his "Refutation of All Heresies" may just be the earliest "proto-gnostic" writing we have (indeed Irenaeus claims Simon was the source of the Gnostic heresies), in any case Gnosticism finds its roots NOT with Jesus, but perhaps with Simon Magus, though i cannot say ultimately

there arent 2 creation stories, Genesis 1 goes across the whole of creating, Genesis 2 just repeats the creation of man more closely in focusing on him, its a pretty common technique. The writer wanted to round the whole of creation off in one go, and then refocus on one part of it: humans
