How the heck did this guy even make it onto the plane with a supposed bomb in the only piece of luggage he had on him? It's not like it was carefully hidden on his person?
@Lindarose84 Domestic flights were not screened for guns, bombs or other weapons in 1971 so Cooper could bring anything he wanted onboard an airliner.
I don't believe what he had was a real bomb but a close facsimile. Otherwise, why take it with when he jumped.

Good question. All I can think of is in 1971 airport security checks weren't as tight and thorough as they are today.

@ifuseekamy There was no security at all. It was when airports werea fun place to be. Those days are long gone. Today I'd rather take the Greyhound.
