Hollywood movies are made to make money of course and the writers try to portray the characters to that end. If we ever went to an all out war in the future and Germany was on our side, I think most Americans would be proud and thankful to have such good people on their side. German troops are among the best and their military equipment is excellent i.e. the Leopard 2 tank.

Inglourious basterds was set in a parallel alternative history...thus it should be treated more as historical fantasy, its goal being telling a fictional story rather than presenting historical facts.

Yes, I agree, I just meant that it being so hateful toward Nazi's. Now dont get me wrong. I am no facist, but WW2 is over now, yet there is still so much hate toward Hitler. (if someones a Holocaust survivor, then thats understandable) I have never seen the movie, but come on, shooting hitler until "his face falls off"? Like wtf? I world rather see an alternate history of WW2, where if the Atom bombs werent dropped, or what would've happened if Hitler left Berlin. :P

Well Hitler caused death and destruction to many other people, not just the Jews.
Tarantino is always telling a story in a fantasized space and time...I'm not a big fan of the movie but I do not feel in anyway disrespects the history, because he never aimed to shoot actual history, that's all.

@pricture It's true. The Germans are the only people you can annihillate in a movie on the basis of race alone. Very few living Germans were responsible for the evil of WW2, but they're all paying for it even today.

This film is truly epic, because unlike other films depicting Hitler as just a sick, wicked, sick twisted evil little man, this film does so, but at the same time it also shows his human side and that is extremely necessary to show. I am not condoning his evil ways, just saying its a good balance of spirit, determination, hopelessness, anger, rage, acceptance, and then the eventual end. EPIC
