  • TERRIBILE VOICE

  • Thank you everyone very much for your compliments and constructive criticism. I, too, agree, that my eyes and facial expressions are a bit strange (I used my facial expressions to place my voice), and my teacher and I have been working on changing that for the past eight months. I hope to upload something improved soon, and would be very interested to hear if it does or doesn't come across more natural looking, and how the resulting change in sound compares. Thanks again for watching!

    Ruth

  • best one ive seen so far did everything you need to do when singing an opera song

  • yes indeed an excellent voice, good breath( and I know HOW difficult this song is, I study it now) but you have to take care of the acting. try watching Liliana Nikiteanu...

Zerlina is a clever girl a diva in the body of a tiny bird she KNOWS the great power she has on Masetto...she s a hidden godess pretending to be helpless, under the man's commands ....but just pretending!!!...if the man is the HEAD of the house, the woman is the NECK, and she can turn the head wherever she wants....

  • lovely voice...her eyes scare me though :P

  • is her face made of playdo? Its really scary.

  • not good

  • @johnwhite1ification I see that you do not want anything to voice ...

just do not understand an emeritus dick!!

  • wow...this must be hard...

  • No...don't listen to the others :P the interpretation is perfect, I'm italian and I can assure you that's perfect! A very nice voice, I believe to become good as you are, even though my teacher said me my voice's not ripe enough now :( but I'm good too :) bye!

  • I am performing this song in a recital, and I really hope I don't act so creepy on stage.

Everything else as in diction and pitch was right on.

When I listen to this, I have to minimize YouTube so that I don't put this image into my mind.

I love the sound and the performance, just you need to work on your stage presence.

  • Love the voice.

  • GREAT....LOVE IT....

  • Me gusta su voz, peor no me gusta su actuación..

  • beautiful girl and beautiful voice! i also appreciate how you truly acted this out. as an opera singer myself i think that stage presence is often overlooked, but you certainly now how to take command on stage! once again, this was lovely!

  • very very very lovely! i really enjoyed that performance! bravo!

  • Very good! You bring me a lot of ideas now! Very well done! Was it in an University?

  • ..... hehe! Cute. I wonder if she practices in front of the mirror. Beautiful voice.

  • Me parece que quiere imitar un poco los gestos de Cecilia bartoli... jejejeje... muy linda interpretación

  • BEAUTIFUL voice, not sure about the weird expressions.....

  • Nicely done.

  • very very good job. but, just a little constructive critisism. Work on rounding your O's and making your B's of "Batti" and "bel" more explosive. Beautiful. Great voice. I loved it

  • Wow! Super job, Ruth! Beautiful voice and such a beautiful and flawless performance!

  • very very good!

  • The voice is beautiful, diction is also very, very gut. You are also lean und handsome, one of the most important things nowadays for the stage. I didn´t like the acting, I think you are trying to make a fresh italian, but you are a very elegant german girl. So try to solve the roll in another way, from your heart and people will believe it. As I close my eyes, the voice convince in every minute! Very good Mozart!

  • You're really talented, Stop listening to Bartoli. And do something with the moments when you are not singing..the music should sound like it comes from you. Don't drop the ball every piano interlude. Good luck. Beautiful.

  • you have a very beautiful voice and you were soooo musical the way you and the pianist phrased "saprò baciar" it was very beautiful. i really enjoyed listening to this. u made my day a lil brighter with this :)

  • she's got a beautiful full voice, she's so lucky!

  • i am learning this song right now and like how you sound doing it.

  • You are a lovely singer! Very entertaining. love the way you pipe out the top notes

  • Maravillosaaa...

    La mejor version!!

  • I think u own! You´re fantastic!

  • What a pretty voice! :D Yes, it may have been a little overacted, but still wonderfully sung.

  • Qué rara se le ve la lengua! y es cierto sus gestos distraen mucho, pero la canta muy bien !

  • Her voice is quite wonderful, but the acting is horrible. It is clearly overacted, and extremely time-inappropriate. Tone it down so the motions don't upstage the beautiful singing.

  • great voice, love the song, but work more on not making the faces it's really distracting and not very pretty

  • My dear!Your voice is so beautiful, and if I close my eyes,I hear a wonderful performance, but then I look at the monitor... My God!Sorry about to say that, you are so beautiful and sing so good...why should you play the little whore, when this aria is not that kind of song! You suggested, that you want to get back Masetto just to have a little sex action! So why?Trust in yourself! You are enough just being on the stage, don't need to overact your part. Thanks for the video, good luck in the future!

  • Wow. When you said what the aria is NOT about, you hit the nail on the head of what it IS about. You really think Zerlina is a dumb ditz who wants him to beat her up? That interpretation is so boring - I love when they sauce her up. No need to be "the little whore," but subtle spice is fine. This girl is doing all right. The faces are a bit much, but this is definitely my favorite non-opera-house video of this aria. So sick of high school girls massacring it with velar Ls and without support.

  • Actually, I think the right interpretation is still different.

I believe Zerlina knows very well how to get her Masetto back. She knows he loves her so much that he can't live without her and she knows he would never beat her. (Remember how she leaves him to go with Don Giovanni? She's very self-confident and knows she could go with another man the very day of her marriage and that Masetto wouldn't leave her). Indeed, just playing the victim for 5 minutes will get him back to her.

  • Exactly!

  • amazing-ness

  • Great job! That was really splendid. ^ ^ I loved the motions and the expression, and it was really consistently beautiful. ^ ^

  • don't beat her, masetto, she's beautiful.
