This should be the national anthem instead of "god save...", no kiddin'! Never mind the bollocks! Sometimes it reminds me of "Tommy" from The Who! King Arthur should rule!
Maybe you should listen to what I gotta.... 2012 Is Not It! .... McLarsj....
Like Wagner, this is a perfect marriage of sound and subject matter. If your subject matter is sex and drugs and teenage rebellion, you probably want some edgy, punky sound. You do not, however, take on a subject like Arthur without expressing grandeur in the music. This is why some people find the music of Wakeman or countless other progressive rock acts overblown.
I have this album love it. Now if they would only release a multi channel from the original Quad mix that would be really something, especially Merlin The Magician.
The best keyboard player of all time. I've played the LP of this 3 times, twice to put it on cassette and once for digital. Neither can match the sound of the vinyl but I don't want to wear it out.
Desde Mèxico hace muchos años, ha sido mi inspiraciòn al buscar la exelencia de reyes, como Arturo, Wakeman y grandes Hombres que dejan huella en la vida, no pasemos desapersividos.
This album was years (decades?) ahead of its time. You listen to it today and it still sounds fresh and alive. More than I can say for most of the shit that's passed off as music these days.
The BBC Director General should be ashamed of himself after not using this music as an election theme this year. God, who knows. That was a patriotic theme for British people. Still, epic. Hope the Tories will get the party in power. In few days, it will be my country, the Philippines, to get the gains, losses and every candidates. Good job, UK for voting! Wish us good luck.
Never mind whose going to win or the possibility of a hung parliament. The big question for election night is whether the BBC will keep this as its theme tune.
This brings back some memories. I still have this album but recently ordered the CD. Wakeman was my fave keyboard player when I was growing up. Thanks a lot for posting this.
I see you dig progressive from the looks of your page. If your in your mid 20's, more power to you. Kinda odd to find one so young listening to it. Have you seen YES and the like in concert? I've seen these guys probably 10 times through out the past 30 years or so. One of the best was the "Reunion tour" in the late 80's, I believe. Almost all former members were playing "In the round"!
I hope, is that that the feeling and optimism and pomp which go's with this wonderful music should be replicated by good policies and politics on the part of whoever is elected in 2010- one's which edify our country and people, not undermine them. (PS: I think The Queen would agree!)
@antidisenstable unfortunately they didn't use it. I was deeply disappointed when I found out they weren't going to use it. This tune is just as fresh as it was in 1979, I don't see what the problem is.

Shame on the BBC for dropping this for Election Night 2010.
Why do they always do that? All those great sports themes too, consigned to the dustbin in the constant drive for modernity.

It was reported in Ariel, the bbc staff magazine that a new theme will be used for the 2010 election coverage.
BOO!
Repeating the same mistake as in 2001! Idiots. Man finding that out really spoils the anticipation for the election for me! Aw.

I'm in my twenties and I love this tune; it reminds me so much of Election Nights. Lets hope that this tune will be played on Election Night 2010.
When this tune is heard on Election Nights one feels so British.
Roll on Election Night 2010.
