I never saw Ali fight.But if Mike came before Ali's time we would be saying that Mike was the greatest of all time. He definitely was the boxer who pleased boxing fans more than any other champion or top contender. Every one talks about Mayweather, but the thing is that Iron Mike never dodged fighting the top contenders and boxers when he was active. Mayweather is undefeated because he has managed to price himself out of fighting the best contenders when those top contenders were in their prime.

I think mike is not judged as an all time great because he defeated another boxer in his class, but because of the dominance he showed at the beginning of his career, only 4 of his first 37 fights went for more than 6 rounds. That is pretty dominant to me.
