I was shocked when I heard today that Rafael Nadal has a girlfriend; up to this point, I had always thought he was single. He looked like he was going to focus solely on his tennis career & hold off on a family life of his own till later. The mere fact that he has chosen to have a girlfriend NOW suggests that he is ready to have children & settle down. However, at an exhibition match with Federer & Sampras this year, he said that he was only 23 & wasn't ready for all that.

Lots of people enter romantic relationships throughout their entire lives with no desire to have children - teenagers, for example. His romantic status in no way idicates that he is planning for parenthood! Why shouldn't he have a girlfriend? Far better than lots of other sport stars who "get around". He deserves someone to make him happy.
