To all of you signing up for this MOS there is ONLY one true sentance in this entire Video.."you may work long hours in the feild" Civilains do our job now we do not have rights to change or add/remove anything anymore..even down range. all you can do is add printers or change log on passwords..sorry to break it to you but i have been in over four years and we dont have much use anymore. we basically become the "go to" guys for detials and clean up work
@robertmwenzel1 Its been like that for years. I was in when this MOS was 74B. I will admit though its a good start in IT. I do pretty damn well in the private sector because of my experience in the Army.
I'm 25yrs old and planning in enlisting for this MOS and probably get airborne too. I wonder if the army have an updated video for this MOS. Also, you guys that already have ship dates... Did it take a while before 25B was open to take? How long is the ship date from the time you guys swore in at meps???
@xXthescarykidXx I apologize. I was running on no sleep when I commented I keep thinking about ranger school -_- this is the second video I did this on lol I wonder if there are others. Haha
I swear... How do you know your going airborne when first of all you have to complete all training. Secondly you have to apply and accepted into airborne school. When you sign your contract I'm 100% sure it doesn't give you an airborne option as an 25B. I know because I've already done all that. Idiots.
Back in 04 they offered me Airborne as a 25B, which I turned down, but once I got to AIT I changed my mind and got my jump physical. It was easy. They don't always offer. It depends on the Army's needs.
@XmojotronX I don't even need to start on this. I have seen both sides of the house and if you think "man enough" means getting out as an E-3 after 4 years in the USMC then more power to you. Good job and good luck!
Bullshit,my cousin is a 25B and they don't work all night, after 2,there day is basically over and really don't do shit unless they have a mission, just like the rest of the 25 series
@eyesack9 can you count to ten, nopr don't think so,did you take your meds today, most likely you didn't,it's ok i don't pick on retards so you get a retard pass, have a nice day NSO
hey ive got a quick question im a future solider in the us army and i aready took my final oath. my mos is 25b but i heard you can volunteer. is that true? I was told that if i volunteer i go fight with a unit. i mean i love workin with computers but i dnt want to sit on my ass the whole time
Guys I think You made the right choice in this MOS because I heard my friend who was 19 out of highschool from my school got his leg blown off he was in infantry. his commander was shot my a sniper and his friend in is convoy was killed; DONT DO INFANTRY!!!
I want to be a computer geek, but I was a 25U for five years because they told me I would be working with computers and be a real computer geek. NOPE!!! I never touched a computer all five years. Mostly I was just a solider always on detail and my sergeant left for Korea so I belonged to the motor pool sergeant. So it was five years of zero computer geek experience. Point is, is 25B the same thing? Advertises computer geek but you never touch a computer? Now I cant find a job as an IT guy.
About all these 25-series jobs - If you choose one, have fun having all of your work, besides the dirty field work, contracted completely out to civilians. Soldiers are losing their jobs to government contractors. It's terrible. I've been there and seen it. Of course, every unit, duty station, and situation is different. If you want action, look into some other jobs and weigh out your options.
I'm definitely applying for MOS 25B Information Technology Specialist for U.S. Army Reserve! Got to study really hard on Math Knowledge, Word Knowledge & Comprehension, General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, and Mechanical Comprehension! This will be pain in the ass...
@mmdjnr If you are married and the training takes six months or more then yes you can bring your wife(or husband).I am gonna enlist so i asked all these questions already. Good luck on your asvab and on your future military career too.
Automations(25B) Tac Comms(25C usually). On the enlisted side, over them is a 25U. Above that person is an officer 25A. 25B-computer tech/network admin 25C-Radios/mobile satellites 25U-Meant to do both. 25A-Unfortunately as a signal officer, "management" is mostly what he/she will do. How to get the best as 25B?? "LOCATION" I recommend asking for 112th Signal Bn on Fort Bragg, NC but it's ur choice.
i am looking at joining the military for a scholarship for college. i plan to work with computers for an occupation (programming, maitenence, etc.) and my parents are weary about sending off their only child. would this mos be a good choice for experience and still be a safe way off of the main front?
As a 25B. will I learn programming and programming languages? I plan on being a Programmer after my service so why not get a headstart here? Please help
@DudeSkates3419 Seems the video has been updated. It did used to say that. Anyway a "programmer" is passé. Businesses want problem solvers, not coding monkeys. Go get yourself a degree in computer science.
Getting stationed depends where Uncle Sam puts you either in CONUS or over seas like Korea,Germany and Italy, it doesn't depend on your MOS, but where they want you
If any one has already graduated AIT can u tell me where u got stationed just curious I know thats not where I will end up but just want to get an idea if this is more of an over seas mos or here in the U.S thanks <3
Army MOS 25B Information Technology Specialist how long will it take after signing up in this field, & completing the asvab test with success before basic training begins?
hey! it looks like they used old and newer videos in this clip. The folks in the BDUs have all the old ass hardware and CRT screens while folks in the ACUs are using laptops and flat panel screens LOL
@Chipper99 Question- @Chipper99 I'm about to join the Army reserve and try to acquire 25B, what have been your experience? Please give me heads up if you don't mind?
I'm preparing myself to join (I'm kind of old for it but what the hell, trying to re-invent yourself is hardly ever easy) and am seriously considering 25B as my MOS. I did alright on the sample ASVAB (well enough that they told me that I'd probably be able to get into whichever MOS I finally decided on). My issue here is deciding what to go for. My goal is to come out on the other side as a fully-capable IT guy w/ min 4 years hands-on exp. in IT. Is 25B the best way to get there?
@Ozlanthos 25B is more help desk related. look into 25N much more technical IMO and you will be tooled for work outside the army in network management. I have friends who were 25N and now are working for large private companies (one works for a hospital the other a law firm) heading the IT department making BIG bucks. I myself work for a law/econ consulting firm in the IT department where i manage the database network. one of the best jobs skills to have these days.
@KrazeKAM I would look into AF but I am out of their age range. I did recently find out that I am still good to go for Naval Reserve, but I am more inclined to go with Army for full active simply for the fact that I can get on-base housing thus saving that much more dough. Can you think of any reason I should go Navy reserve as opposed to active-duty Army?
Hey just here doing a little look see of my mos before I leave for BCT. I leave august 24th to Fort sill so that's exciting lol. Anyway, I would really like some more insight on my mos from someone who has already been through it. I just turned 18 and to be quite honest i'm a giant nerd so this is just my thing lol. Any advice, tips or info would help thanks.
@Lookingforfourfor say what? You the one giving because you claim you cant do the math. I was the Poster Boy for unable to do math. I wanted the degree in Computer Science bad enough and after a lot of hard work, finally saw how easy math really is. It is you withthe attitude of quiting because you want to avoid things with math, Thus enjoy Geek Squad @ $7 an hour .
@Lookingforfourfor You could prpbably get a job with Geek Squad in Best Buy, but hwy a boring job? Your bets bet would be to use your GI bill to go earn a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at an ABET accredited univeristy. Then we are talking about working at places like Micosoft starting off at $60K+ a year, or at the company with the largest IT system in the business world; Walmart. If you dont liek that idea, then stay at Best Buy for $8 an hour.
Yeah the ones in "BDU'S" are National Guard and the ones in "ACU'S" are active. Not only that the monitors are CRT and the towers are huge as shit! Well the video is right about the "long hours" in the field day and night, thats for damn sure. And you start with a Secret and depending were you are and work, you could end up with a Top Secret-SCI.

@RobbiesSpace28 MOS are for enlisted people. As a comissioned officer they put you in a branch of service you have no control over. There you are a manager, not a technician. To have the best of both worlds, you become a Warrant Officer.
How can you mix old and new on this video. This MOS sucks if you get a stupid or shitty unit with nothing more than common printer and login issues. If you get a good unit you will be working on cool stuff and running routers, switches and shit but most likely youll be in front of a monitor bored to death or getting pulled for a lot of extra stuff. S6 is known as the Duty Staff, once your mission slows down your the "hey you I need help for this detail" group, great civilian jobs though....
this job does suck. So boring. And if youre NG. Dont even plan on doing it. Unless you need the money try to go to the guard school. Youll never do your job. (not like i would want to). I'd rather help in the motorpool...

@Fischkid2 What is the exact title of "25N"? I tried looking it up but Youtube lacks a vid for that MOS. 25U perhaps?

@Ozlanthos go signal. 25b, 25n and 25s are THE best jobs. They get promoted higher than the others and u can use them outside of the army

@Ozlanthos How old are you?
KrazeKAM 1 year ago
@KrazeKAM 37 for another couple of days. Is that important? From what I understand I am good to go until I hit 41.

@Ozlanthos Yeah you are good. They are also trying to fill a lot of the 25 MOS jobs. You should also look into the air force
KrazeKAM 1 year ago
@KrazeKAM I would look into AF but I am out of their age range. I did recently find out that I am still good to go for Naval Reserve, but I am more inclined to go with Army for full active simply for the fact that I can get on-base housing thus saving that much more dough. Can you think of any reason I should go Navy reserve as opposed to active-duty Army?

@lancastergurl most of your jobs have you in battlefield temporary bases so you will be on the battlefield but in a slightly air condition room

GeekBoy03 1 year ago
@Lookingforfourfor Well then good luck working at best buy for $7 an hour
GeekBoy03 1 year ago
@Lookingforfourfor You could prpbably get a job with Geek Squad in Best Buy, but hwy a boring job? Your bets bet would be to use your GI bill to go earn a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at an ABET accredited univeristy. Then we are talking about working at places like Micosoft starting off at $60K+ a year, or at the company with the largest IT system in the business world; Walmart. If you dont liek that idea, then stay at Best Buy for $8 an hour.

@Lookingforfourfor no math

I wonder what they do if you have a Bachelor degree in Computer Science?

Yeah the ones in "BDU'S" are National Guard and the ones in "ACU'S" are active. Not only that the monitors are CRT and the towers are huge as shit! Well the video is right about the "long hours" in the field day and night, thats for damn sure. And you start with a Secret and depending were you are and work, you could end up with a Top Secret-SCI.

Hey, I was wondering if I could select this MOS if I went through the Army ROTC, or is this strictely enlisted work?
RobbiesSpace28 1 year ago
@RobbiesSpace28 MOS are for enlisted people. As a comissioned officer they put you in a branch of service you have no control over. There you are a manager, not a technician. To have the best of both worlds, you become a Warrant Officer.
GeekBoy03 1 year ago
How can you mix old and new on this video. This MOS sucks if you get a stupid or shitty unit with nothing more than common printer and login issues. If you get a good unit you will be working on cool stuff and running routers, switches and shit but most likely youll be in front of a monitor bored to death or getting pulled for a lot of extra stuff. S6 is known as the Duty Staff, once your mission slows down your the "hey you I need help for this detail" group, great civilian jobs though....

25B FTW! :D
But holy shit, this video's out of date. xD
There's a damn serial port on the computer at 0:35.
