He had years, maybe even decades, of legal problems with his former record producer over rights to the songs and a precedent-setting lawsuit for plagerizing himself related to the songs Run Through the Jungle and Old Man Down the Road. Court ruled you can't plagerize yourself.
John sang Susie Q at an assembly when we were in El Cerrito High School. Before that, when we were at Portola Jr. High, the three of them practiced at one of their homes in the El Cerrito hills. They all graduated from ECHS in 1963. John was pumping gas, Doug was the most popular and funny guy, and no comment on the other guy.

Stu, Doug and Tom didn't write, produce or have a hand in managing the band for one reason: JOHN WOULDN'T LET THEM. Due to John's egregiously bad business dealings, he screwed himself and the rest of the band out of loads of money, then proceeded to blame pretty much every one but himself for it. Saul Zaentz is a prick, but frankly so is John Fogerty. That doesn't mean he isn't a genius when it comes to writing and performing songs.

@castletriglav Points taken. From a proficiency standpoint, you can't argue that John WAS CCR. He's as good a bassist as Stu, but Doug is a kick-ass drummer (sorely missed on CENTERFIELD). I'm one of the few out there who likes MARDI GRAS, and I think both Doug and Stu's songs are pretty good. Why not allow the two off them (or Tom) to occasionally contribute a song to an album. John couldn't give up two or three tracks out of ten? Lennon and McCartney did. Sting did.
JC was a pure genius... CCR has never got the true recognition it deserved.. I wonder if John would have allowed their music to be in the original Woodstock Movie, if it would have made a difference.. any true lover of music knows best about CCR.. They were great !! the only one the others thought may sing would be tom, seeing that he was the original lead when the first got together.
but the main thing about John was he didnt listen to stu's advice (stu has a degree in business) and when he realized he was more screwed then the rest he made life hell which caused tom to walk away and then it was just a matter of time before the end. thinking if the band dissolved it would wipe away his obligation to the record co. it didnt

i know im goin on and on but it wasnt just a case of hey, you stole my girlfriend i hate you. when tom left and they cont. to tour stu tried to show john how to set up the schedule and transportation arrangments to save time and money and reduce the stress of touring john flipped out. he wanted them to write and sing in an attempt to show the record co. that "he " was the talent. they never wanted to sing, he wanted to make a point and at the same time he humliated his bandmates.

All of you better get your facts straight before you spew more BS. The other 3 wanted their songs heard. John finally gave in. The last album is shit for that reason. After the break up, John asked the 3 to back him up in the legal battle. They said no, and John had to go to court to get his monies back from some fat fuck. Who has had the most success since they broke up? Who has had #1 solo albums? Stu? Doug? No! John Fogerty, yes. He was and always will be CCR. CCR Revisited is SHIT. Go John

I have to agree. ozzy sucks for the most part, tony iommi... actually the band made black sabbath! I love Jim Morrison but he wouldve been nothing without the doors!
