  • you can see the heat guns air blowing at the center part, but nicely done

  • Wow...

  • @Peroy1 My word exactly.

  • It`s Michael Jackson!!!!

  • Reminds me the Parasite Eve scene...

  • I've got a face melt in a new movie coming out on DVD shortly. Check out the footage. on my page.

  • Needs a red wax layer under the skin

  • Loved it. Check out our review show Two Jews On Film. My husband - one of the reviewers - created these horror films called FACES OF DEATH

  • something ridiculous give me thumbs up

  • raiders of the last turd

  • awesome but it just needed more blood

  • It was cheesy, but that is part of the fun of videos like this. It wasn't a bad effect. I am sure that it took a lot of work.

  • Nothing tastes better than melt skin! Yum yum!

  • Wasn't there a movie like this with Bruce Dern? Can't remember what it was called. I remember him mentioning "a poison that rots" (or a poison that makes people rot).

  • That was awesome! Keep up the great work!

  • @doktorkloride

And oftentimes excusing of a fault doth make the fault the worse by the excuse.

  • not as epic as the scene from the film

  • please tell me how you did this!!! im making a film. you could message me what stuff you used?

  • @FearTheTristen

Just some kind of wax, a heat gun, fake hair and a lot of spare time. Good luck!

  • @Nolaw you remember what kind of wax?

  • @FearTheTristen

Sadly no... I didn't take part while building the head myself and it was about 9 years ago. I can ask the guy who did it and get back at ya here.

  • @FearTheTristen

I asked the FX-guy (Love Larson) and he said the eyes was made of wax and the rest was made out of gelatin. BUT he kinda wished he had made the entire head (at least the melting parts) out of wax - then it would have melted faster. He said that any kind of wax would do.

    Hope this was useful!

  • @Nolaw what video camera do u use?

  • how did you do this? what dod you use for the skin?

  • gross

  • No blood.

  • See kids, this is what happens when you listen to a Justin Bieber song.

  • Nice.

  • That actually reminded me of the melting sequence at the end of The Terror (1963)

  • looks tasty!

  • Hes made out of ice cream. OM NOM NOM!!!!

  • Mmmmm...nougat.

  • at the end i can see the actors eye in the socket hole

  • Someone looked at the Ark.

  • i know same

  • Crappy effect is crappy!

    Nazi Face Melting > All

  • >Nazi Face Melting > All

Check out the scanners exploding head.

  • are you fucking serious? take a look at it again. this isn't some indy mogul crayon bullshit. eat my cock and go back to ebaums world. this effect was very well done, yea it isn't the original but they're not claiming to be better. they're inspired by it dickwad.

  • He Wasn't Talking about Indymogul,Dangerfeel. He was talking about Indiana Jones.

  • lol wut

  • thats was truely bad-ass, how did you accomplish that, and how much did it cost?

    long live indy films

  • wtf

  • looks so fake though

  • Nice, but would have looked so much nicer with a bit of camera movement. I know that's difficult to do on a budget though..

  • thats ace

  • lookie here what I stumbled on to.. awesome..

  • The face melt in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is a lot better.

  • Lol cool

  • Since hair burns at a lower temperature than flesh, you'd figure that the mustache would be the first thing to go, but it stays intact. Watch it, it's still hanging off of the mouth at the end.

  • WTF????

  • lol his nose does fall off alot

  • LOL

  • lol so true

  • can you add a Michael Angelo Batio solo for the sound?

  • that was cheesy

  • melting duke ellington!

  • Sweet!

  • could see skeleton as soon at it starts around the mouth

  • looks like ice cream melting

  • looks like melted peanut butter

  • Yea, the way raiders did it hinted that it was stop animation after the 2nd guys face started melting.

  • It's very good ! :)

  • check out doctor who 'dragon fire' from late 80s i think it was, somthing simular happened ! prety gorry for kids tv too

  • lol also see the indiana jones scene. That ones great. They rated PG only because the shot with the characters head exploding was blocked by a wall of fire. Without that wall it would've been rated R.

  • Add some screaming and spooky music and it would've been pretty scary. You should take the time to make a tutorial.

  • Good, nice effects

  • that scene scared me

  • the nose falls off

  • yeh i know funny

  • I think the melting aspect looks better than Raiders......raiders is too waxy.

  • How'd you do that?

  • fuck yeah!

  • disgustingly awesome! kudos!

  • Good work, though I'd skip the facial hair. Also, build up a layer of red underneath to simulate underneath the epidermis.

Did you know that the fireball effect on Belloq (yes, I know your effect was a tribute to Toht's death, not Belloq's) was superimposed in to avoid an R-rating? A closeup of an exploding head was too much for the MPAA.

  • Thanks! We skipped the gory version to make it more in line with the rest of the movie and went straight to "skeleton mode" (like a cartoon). And the effect was far from finished -- there was supposed to be flames added some weird electrical surge (also to cover up the dropping mustache). Why it didn't end up in the movie was because we didn't have the time to finish the effect and it wasn't that important -- we really just did it to see if we could!

  • Raiders already had enough violence for an R rating anyway.

  • I actually think the movie should've gotten an R-rating from the face melting scene.

  • It looks totally awesome and quite realistic. It's a very nice no to 'Raiders'.
