Sadly no... I didn't take part while building the head myself and it was about 9 years ago. I can ask the guy who did it and get back at ya here.

I asked the FX-guy (Love Larson) and he said the eyes was made of wax and the rest was made out of gelatin. BUT he kinda wished he had made the entire head (at least the melting parts) out of wax - then it would have melted faster. He said that any kind of wax would do.

Good work, though I'd skip the facial hair. Also, build up a layer of red underneath to simulate underneath the epidermis.

Did you know that the fireball effect on Belloq (yes, I know your effect was a tribute to Toht's death, not Belloq's) was superimposed in to avoid an R-rating? A closeup of an exploding head was too much for the MPAA.

Thanks! We skipped the gory version to make it more in line with the rest of the movie and went straight to "skeleton mode" (like a cartoon). And the effect was far from finished -- there was supposed to be flames added some weird electrical surge (also to cover up the dropping mustache). Why it didn't end up in the movie was because we didn't have the time to finish the effect and it wasn't that important -- we really just did it to see if we could!
