He became a strong country / rock artist in his own rignt. Only after her was recognized did he start to do his father's songs again.... and like he says... his father didn't hang around much to be with the kids while he was alive. It's easy to sing Hank Sr. (boxcar willie) it's hard to be Hank Jr.
