sweet vid man, also, for the love of sweet baby jesus put rainmeter on your windows os for your desktop. nothing says 80 year old man like windows default desktop gadgets.
Your flash drive may turn to junk pretty quickly (6 months maybe). I would recommend buying a USB hard disk instead of a flash drive, because flash drives are not designed for this sort of load.
@electronicchronic nooo i dont but i had to use one everyday at school for awhile. . .i mean dont get me wrong they are very powerful, in fact if i could afford it id buy a mac nd exchange for windows xp if i could. since they run i386 compatibale processors [right?] lol i just dont like the OS Itself thats all. . .i love teh iPhone nd Ipod tho.
@Hadyy13 lol thats the 2nd think i dont like. . i mean i get the concept but i think they OVERsimplified it. . its like everytime i see it im staring at an insult to my intelligence XD then when i try to go into the shell code im completely helpless. . .frankly i dont like things that insult me THEN make me feel stupid XD
@ENCRYPTaBIT i was using Vista at the time and using safari because FireFox wasn't working, it was a new pc i bought but over time i got things to run better so i don't Safari anymore, and Second I like Mac XD i use it for work and now i bought my new mac pro with Boot camp that has Windows 7 lol
In the menu that ubuntu gives you when you first boot it it gives you the option to run it from the usb or to install it on the machine right? How much extra work is it to install it on the computer without overwriting windows or any documents? do i have to do a lot of partitioning before i do it or is it safe just to click install?
@iDiggMGL nope, just reboot and if it don't show up, next time you boot just hit one of the F keys that lets you pick what you want to boot up, like for some Linux CD's don't boot up, go to your boot Menu. (its in the video) in my case, i had to use the boot menu on Dell which was F12
Hey i have a new hp mini laptop and it came with windows... so i want to install ubuntu on it but, i don't know if i should install this "Netbook Remix" or the regular one...
i would be easier for me to install the regular one 'cause i have a burned cd, but i want to be sure. PLEASE REPLY!!! :)
Well, they both are same except for the fact that the NBR comes with a Netbook Remix launcher. This launcher just takes away your start menu and gives you an easy-to-use interface where you are presented with a grid of icons. Also, tabs of running apps appear on the top bar itself instead of utilizing space on the bottombar. In fact, there is no bottom bar at all! This gives you even more free vertical pixels in your apps. Driver support is same in both versions
Its really up to you, which one would I like to use? I've try both and there awesome but I'll stick with Standard Ubuntu but then again, i use the NBR on my old IBM Thinkpad so i can get to work quickly.
Thankyou so very much! You have rescued my Netbook. It failed after a software update (over the net) and having no cd/dvd drive I had no idea how to get it working. Following this video it is up and running a far more powerful system than the one it was shipped with. You have saved me having to buy a new machine (I cannot afford to be without one at the moment and the only solution was going to be replace the dead one). You have saved me a bucket of cash and a lot of stress. X
used flashnul since this didnt work and i fried my usb. and it didnt work. this keeps getting error 8 and crap. dont try this and if u do and get it to work message me what ur OS is and how the hell u got it to work. thanks
i fried my thumbstick while formatting and it didnt work for my XP gunna get another one and try again. i also tried "flashnul" its a command prompt way to do it and i couldnt figure it out so i gave up. ill try again
