If you're an elf and you're a mage, you're a High Elf or a Blood Elf. The Night Elves didn't hate the High Elves and now the Blood Elves because they were white... its because they still cling to the forbidden art of magic. The only reason why the High Borne who migrated to the Easter Kingdoms weren't killed is because the Night Elves didn't want anymore blood shed.

the high born are basicly the blood elves....not the night elves....although the 2 were once one....untill the highborn broke off....thats why the blood elves are smaller in stature than their night elf counterpart, being away from nature and depending on magic so much weakened them. and the highborn became the blood elves once their immortality was compromised trying to stop the scourge.

@Legoldos...I doubt you can burn down Teldrassil..it's a gigantic tree....and with darnaasus there they would probably just do something about it and make elune get the fire to go away or something...but Dire Maul is highborne, and I thought they betrayed the night elves by corrupted ashenvale from the vials that illidan poured into the new lake..or whatever..And by the way..there is a way (if you're a night elf roleplayer) to RP they're..just kill the king and you're the new king...so yeah.....

I can't wait till the Highborn is finally available.Though I am afraid we will be flagged as lvl 80 Night elf Mage (player) which is wrong because we're Highborne but Blizzard wouldn't notice. I'm not playing Wow yet but am gonna wait till Cata hit before subscribing otherwise I would be wasting money and time on a tedious human mage. I think this is the best solution for everybody: high elf-lovers like myself get to sort of play one and the other races won't be nagging: Another elf race WTH!!!

Im really excited about NE mages I wanted to make one to being with, but NE couldn't be mages!!! So I made a human one =/ now I'm seriously thinking about changing races to NE when it becomes available to do so!!! however it will suck because I would have to change sex too....I hate the NE male model >.< talking of lore when they annouced the shadow orbs for Spriest a lot wanted them to be like ravens or skulls so it didnt feel similar to shamans, however, blizz says it would have a lore problem

I really hope that with the return of the Highborne the Night Elven will rise up to the great people they used to be. Darnassus is pretty boring to run arround in and it does not feel nearly as epic as the greatest of all Elven cities should be.. more like a village :(

l Love Rp but the Tauren sun walker or what they are called are cool and I can adapt them into Lore... but I would NOT call them paladins, rather a mix of Shamans and druids with some mixture of battle mages sometimes I just wish every race/class mix would get unique, it would straighten up lore a LOT

Watch the trailer for cataclysm. "an ancient ally resurfaces to bring the savage worgen into the alliance" It has to be referring to the highborne, although that one night elf is wearing druid t8, but look in ICC, there are npc tanks wearing healer shields. Blizz likes fashioncrafting.

Blood elves are not the high born. The High Born were, in fact, Night Elves. Blood Elves are demonically corrupted High Elves, who are descendants of the Highborn.

Well they called themselves Blood Elves in to the fallen High Elves after the scourge wiped out Silvermoon.

Then later when Kael'thas joined with Illidan they began to use Demonic magic.

@Valenhiem you can still say belfs are High Born. blood elfs are high elfs and high elfs are high born. like nagas.. nagas are from the begining night elf. night elf is the start in the elf race tree, likr monkeys are in the humen race tree. and alredy in the beginging there was an elite magic-using sect dat started to leav the main race and evolve. the high born attracted the demons... get banish form kalendor... evolve and calls high elfs.. 90% die and the servivel calls blood elfs and corrup

It can still make sense at the release of cataclysm, for example if the lich king is still not dead by the time cataclysm is released then worgen Dk's are just valid. Even if they decide that the lich king dies then they might just make up an exuse and say that the timelines where different

The lich king is in the icecrown citadel raid in 3.3 so yes he will die and the starting zone for DK's will make sense and worgen/goblin death knights will make no sense.

@Melvenor i could explain worgen Dks. according to worgen lore in the battle against the scourge after arthas was taking over lordearon arugal made wolf like creatures called worgen to fight along side the gilneans and the curse spread through the populatation and when the worgen died in battle he could then could then raise them as a Dk. then blizz came up with something random about your charachter freeing the worgen from arugal and you somehow died and were raised as a Dk.

like every race should be able to be killed and raised as death knights but when cataclysm arrives the scourge is "destroyd".

It would actually make sense if it where some Ogre, naga, gnoll and even murloc death knights standing guard in ebon hold.

Apparently they are former slaves of Arugal that have broken free from him and were slain by the undead after their escape from Shadowfang Keep.

@Melvenor Yeah, I feel ya, but Blizz stated that the initial Scourge DK quest chain when you play worgen takes place BEFORE the Cataclysm. So the Worgen DK you role has never been part of the Alliance... until now :)
