  • The flying cruiser....

  • Now throw some planes in there and strap some missle launchers on there and you got a badass ship

  • Also, for those that say it's "huge", as far as Zeppelins go, it's really not. The Hindenburg was nearly 200 feet longer, but because this has a rounder shape, it carries twice the gas. It gets additional lift from it's wing-body and stubby wings, it's huge vector engines, and on top of that it can control its helium bouyancy AND heat it like hot air... Holy shit, that's a lot if you think about it.

  • A news article just out today said that the military-funded aeroscraft's(think troop transport meets aircraft carrier in the sky and throw in some tanks for giggles) mylar gasbags and external fiberglass shell were just tested against live gunfire and they weren't punctured. I find that difficult to believe. How could you build a fabric-and-glass wall to be unaffected by gunfire? Does anyone know how?

  • now lets see how much fuel we have to use for this monster...

  • These airships are the future! there safe, comfortable, and energy efficient. Using common and safe gases rather than harmful pollutants. I would love to travel in one of these. It would be a cruise in the air!

  • Well, it's an excellent concept, but is it going to get built? I'd like a news stream, perhaps a Twitter...

  • @hellomate639 Saw a news stream today, its being built already.

  • @hellomate639 I dont have a link,I saw it on a local news channel here in Los Angeles. They showed the airship being assembled.Dont think it will be long before you will see a finished product, they said they would have up flying in 2011.

  • @pilot1357inspector

Well, I can't wait to see it flying, if it flies. It will be a surreal vehicle.

  • its a modernized blimp so what

  • September 29, 2010 Aeros completed the Aeroscraft fuel system architecture development and system performance tests.

October 22, 2010 Aeros announced that the Aeroscraft thrust vectoring mechanism has been tested on the engine stand.

November 11, 2010 Aeros announced that tests have been completed for the Aeroscraft control surfaces

  • I've check the status of the aeroscraft:

March 9, 2010 Roll out of the Aeroscraft cockpit.

April 22, 2010 Completion of the construction of Phase I of the Aeroscraft internal frame assembly

June 22, 2010 Completion of the Aeroscraft Aeroshell testing that validates the strength of transverse and longitudinal members.

August 24, 2010 Completion of the Aeroscraft landing system prototype.

September 21, 2010 Completion of the Aeroscraft powerplant unit bench test.

  • lol its just a blimp!

  • @JCav63

I'd check your history sunshine, lighter than air craft were around long before the Wright brothers meagre attempts at flight.

  • @Odziz

    Aeroscraft is heavier than air.

  • @Odziz Aeroscraft is not lighter than air

  • @Odziz I'd check YOUR history aeroscraft isn't lighter than air. (At least for most of the time.)

  • blimps are gay

  • Mechanical staircases on an airship? Seriously? Talk about overweight concerns...

  • Not a chance in hell. Way too expensive. It's just a luxury balloon. One blimp = billions of dollars. Not a chance.

  • @Outkast950

They are planning to get first ready this year.

  • Dear All,

I have some question about psychology:

    (1) Why do we love flying?

    (2) Why do we want to design new airship in this "jet-age"?

    (3) What is the enjoyment to fly airships comparing with aeroplanes?

    (4) Why do we like to draw beautiful plantings on airships?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • This new type of aircraft is able to carry many more passengers then old fashioned jetliners can at a lower speed, true, but also a much lower cost. But the real savings is when the craft lifts off vertically full of goods from a factory in China and lands directly on the roof or parking lot of local WalMart store, bypassing airport, rail, trucking, importers, distributors, warehouses - truly factory direct prices. Now thats wonderful and scary at the same time.

  • Wow, that's quite innovative. A building in the air.

  • And I want

  • I want one...

  • Oh look, it's a newfanlged Zeppelin .. nothing new, move on.

  • This is like the cruise ship of the air: its slower than a plane but you'll be spending the whole time in luxury. Might be less expensive too if it needs less fuel to stay aloft.

  • id rather go in this than an airplane yea its slower but i wouldnt see it as a way of geting to my holiday but part of it.

  • Okay???? let´s start recycling all airplanes by force and using what is NOT destructive to mother earth NOW! =)

  • For more information on how it works look up

Walrus HULA, that was the codename for the R&D by DARPA that made this technology possible

  • To design an aircraft in , there are several parameters that must be specified. These inlcude things such as the shape of the fuselage, planform of the wings, airfoils used, engine horsepower and fuel consumption; really, just about everything you can imagine that you'd need to predict the performance of an aircraft.Engien aspired, turbine, ethanol, gas, electric (need a charger),diesel how you push this thing.

  • Not really, just because the basic design hasn't changed doesn't mean it hasn't been updated. The principle of the airplane wing hasn't changed that much in about 100 years. There is a place for heavy lifters in todays world, with different power sources, lighter and stronger material, weather forcasting, etc. Not to mention less construction of airfields and the ability to land in areas once impossible for heavy loads.

  • welcome to 1899!

jk. i agree it's got some nice new features and all, but i'd still say it's technically a fast zeppelin =)

this video got too much "the future" in it for being based on a 100 year old concept..

    interesting vehicle none the less...

  • It uses helium, not hydrogen. Helium is non-flammable.

  • Get 4, rig them up to a platform, 3 times there size. You've got yourself a flying city.

  • An airship this big would have such a huge internal volume that it could achieve lift just by raising the internal air temperature a few degrees above external air temperature.

  • is this actualy gonna be invented

  • Yes it has been invented.

What you meant to say was is it ever going to get built, check out their website for an update.

  • they should actually develop this king of transportation. It might be full of explosive helium or whatever makes it fly but if they seal it well maybe there's a chance it can resist strong wind or bullets

  • Its helium, non flammable.

  • is anybody thinking about 75km/h winds

  • Good point...I know it has a low flight ceiling, but still. Maybe they should pack a bunch of parachutes on board just in case. (Assuming the thing would actually fly.)

  • I know this old but actually the Zeppelin NT, which is the newer version of the Zeppelin, has built in computer controls which corrects any changes due to wind in the matter of a milli-second. Winds are now a thing of the past.

  • This isn't an airship, its an aeroscraft

  • This is cool but they should make more practical ones to I.E to transport a shitload of people and not be a flying five star hotel.

  • "This is cool but they should make more practical ones to I.E to transport a shitload of people and not be a flying five star hotel. "

we already have that... they're called airplanes ;-) :-P

  • No no, they aren't big enough and can't take off vertically.

  • i know but these airships are kinda blunt, unless theyre delivering cargo or have patient passengers, mostly tourists who odnt mind a slow 'scenic' ride that shows them the beauty from above. otherwise its like taking a cruise ship, u dont see the average businessman taking a cruise ship from southampton to new york for a meeting. this project is just the aviation industry's way of making something equivalent of a bus tour, train tour and ocean cruises. theyre joining the touristic side...

  • @BoAbkal why not? it's awesome even if it's slower you could travel at night wher eyou coulld sleep at a room wtih a bed and personal rest room! at modern airplanes its very uncomfortable to sleep, this new aircraft could be like a flying hotel :P

  • Crimson skies is real! I love this concept! Great work.

    ~Peace

  • @bbglas007

"When you hit the ground, tell 'em Nathan Zachary sent ya!"

  • @bbglas007

When you hit the ground, tell 'em Nathan Zachary set ya!

  • So, is this thing gonna be built or is it just going to stay as a computer animated image? I for one would love to see more of these.

  • when will that happen in your opinion?

  • I say we should have never let go of the concept, relegating Airships to advertising space above football fields was a huge mistake. Planes may be faster but they are far from Superior.

  • I'm loving the future so far.

  • Yeah, just imagine... Bill Gates:

    "Welcome to my office."

  • Oh, finally, my time has come. I want to fly at a more leisurly place, and airships have the safest flying record. (People only remember the one hindenburg accident, which most of the passengers survived, btw, but it was one of hte fist big filmed disasters. Zeppelins had been flying in luxury from europe and to south american for decades before that.) CAN'T WAIT to fly on this thing. May even think of switching careers!

  • That's great between Rio and São Paulo City.

    Congratulations Aeros Company...

  • Damn, stole my idea XD jut kidding, even if someone beat me to it, all i want to do is have an airship of my own to explore the skies, i'm only a kid but i still have big dreams. I want to travel the skies, y'know faster than the wind!!! But still, even if we can do that before i make it, i'm still happy.

  • cute

  • odziz!!

What happen with this air ship if the ship enters in a big storm?Airships have smaller chance to survive then planes.

  • I've uploaded the following videos to do with the company and the Aeroscraft itself:

    watch?v=S2r0l7m1sy4

    watch?v=IGjR7DFLdFs

    watch?v=jmyCohGayL8

    watch?v=Bc07yQNX7HA

I didn't put them as video responses as its a bit naff responding to your own videos.

  • I think these animations are quite realistic since "Skunk "Works already builded working model...and so did that SkyCat company.

Airships will be used in future since they use less fuel than normal planes etc...

  • oh how i want to live on one of these. Its funny I have a real phobia of heights but my passion is to fly and to be high in the sky. What the hell is with that

  • This is awesome. I can't believe they gave it a go when they only have a small model.

  • Just cause you make a 3D animation does NOT mean its the next generation of aircraft.

I like, though, that even in their own promotional video they show the interior filled with about FOUR PEOPLE (horribly photoshopped in an animated background) which just goes to show NO ONE wants to ride this thing.

  • Yes,and people said the same thing about computers and the internet.

  • the graphics (well, DRAWINGS i guess theyd be back then) didn't make those things a hit, it was the actual things themselves. From what I can see from this video all this thing is is someones specs for a flying night club.

  • Check out their website, the link is on the right hand side.

I'll be uploading more videos if people are interested.

  • Plesae do. I would LOVE to see some more of her(the air ship). Whats her name?

  • They need to paint some shark teeth on the front of it.

    That would be uber!!

  • sweet, anyone aspiring to pilot commercially would fall in love with this future possibility for airship captains. looks like something straight out of SciFi, just shows we are catching up XD. and yeah they are actually making one RIGHT NOW, suppose to be done in like 2010.

  • It might take a long time, but eventually these things might replace air travel by jet.

  • That depends, they'd have to be fast enough. But I still LOVE the idea. I hope one comes to North Carolina....

  • fucking nort carolina with rednecks hehe

  • It won't replace travel by jet, because jets are faster, but these are FAR more luxurious. Personally I hate traveling by plane because you have to sit in a cramped seat the entire time, but with this you can sleep in a bed. :)

  • Jets will still exist......maybe Cargo will more rather to aiships as it is less polluting...........

  • I know jets will still exist. That's why I said it won't replace travel by jet because jets are faster.

  • It looks pretty amazing. But those interior renderings show a lot of wasted space.

  • You can use as much "space" as you want. That's half the point of a lighter than air vehicle....

  • I was under the impression that the aeroscraft isn't supposed to be lighter than air.

I'm just saying that if they want to maximize the space onboard, they could throw in another restaurant or lounge and scale down that relatively bare looking nightclub. The cabin looks like it could also use much more storage.

Anyway, I know these are just simple renderings and everything will change if and when this becomes reality. Just giving my opinion.

  • All lighter than air craft are "heavier than air" for safety/engine out conditions. The "wasted" space is most probably the designer's intent to create a certain environment. I agree that business will want that space used up, but "leg room" is going to be the major selling point of airships.

  • well, cant wait long..2010 is not far either..And Jeff T Alu..Nice work!

  • AWESOME!! I cant wait to own some of these ships!!

  • This looks like a gorgeous piece of vapourware.

  • why is that?
