there isnt enough BRRAAAARGGGGGGHHHH screamo shit to the sound of a barely distinguishable double kick bass for most new rock fans under 30 to appreciate this.
What a voice ozzy had. so under-rated. i think hes slipped a bit now but in these early days he was really soaring. What tone! a real one-off. I like this song man! how come no ones cleaned up these old demos and put them out? or is this all there is of it? shame
@337camo Umm ... he's still alive and still one of the most important, influential ... and quite frankly wealthy figures from the 70's. I say, more drugs for everyone if they can handle it like Ozzy. Then again, I see your point.
This is excellent. There's some fake videos out there pretending it's them playing, sounds fucking awful and people are saying its 'candy to the ears'.
@straight2helll it's the other way around. Jimi Hendrix was a very big influence on Tony Iommi and he was already playing before Sabbath (or Earth in this case) ever wrote/sang a song.
ahhhhh.......thank you so much for editing it so it longer. i wish whoever out there can release these earth era tapes...if they havent been destroyed like the pink floyd on the top of the pops videos :'(
@xsnowblindx1 no ! this is just a demo; you cannot compare a demo with their released material. I think this is one of their best pre-black sabbath demos!
Imagine this song on the 1st album. If it was produced right where Iommi and Ward were as LOUD as they were on The Wizard or Behind the Wall of Sleep, this song would have rocked.
i got a massive poster of the first picture on my wall and they all look like there staring at you from any angle you look it & i Love this song so much its a shame it was never released properly
@snubbs741 it wouldnt fit with the other songs i love this song but it would have been kinda weird on the album bein an upbeat song. thats probably why
The story of the tape is that there is only one copy of the fifty-some seconds in existance. The song was written by Norman Haines and he released it on an album of his own in the early 70's. Stone Axe has revived it by taking the Norman Haines version (which sounds not at all like Sabbath), and playing it as if Sabbath would.
You can hear both versions in the videos over there. ---->

I think this song sounds too much like The Kinks, The Monkees, The Cream etc 60's music. Imo the real Black Sabbath feel missing on this song.

Unreal. This is the stuff people uncover that I LIVE to hear. Ozzy sings:
"When I come down..." little did he know he'd be touring the world for the next 40 years and wouldn't EVER come down.

The closest thing to the original in full is Stone Axe - When I Came Down, a band covering the song in full in Black Sabbath manner.
