first off its not to make them look mean.. thats the standard for a amstaff or aka a pitbull.. if you see them in a show ring they have to be un neutered or spayed and have the ears done.. second of all you dont crop the tails off a pitbull... only dumbasses who know nuthing about the breed would cut their tail off..and its not forbidden here in the united states.. look at any akc or ukc show ring and they will have there ears cropped and those dogs arent used for fighting

you need to train him, stay calm around him and give him quick jerk on his collar (up high, just below the ears) when he does anything agressive. the worst thing you can do is get physical, dogs are agressive when they dont trust their owner to protect them so give him something to trust and respect. dont give up on him, its not his fault hes agressive and you owe it to him to help him out. get a good trainer if you dont know how to train him.
