@MrZol You're a fucking idiot. Have you not listened to We're Gonna Groove and I Can't Quit You Baby from Royal Albert Hall. They are exactly alike!!!!
Man, if i rocked up to some pub and heard this from the stage, my fucking head would explode...alas, my head will always be intact. True minstrels >0<
@bluetape13 hahahaha!!! I wanna play! I wanna play! Um, he should be strapped down and forced to listen to "Oops I did it again" about a gazillion times. Yeah, that oughta do it lol
But recently I realized just how much I missed them and, well, I'm back to listening to them ad nauseum again. They've just...GOT IT. THERE IS NO ONE BETTER. They took a genre of music, claimed it as their own, and perfected it! YOU CANNOT IMPROVE UPON PERFECTION. So if I'm an old fuddy-duddy who can't get past her musical youth, then so be it. I'd rather be that than someone who settles for mediocrity in the form of most of what passes for rock music today. Peace.
@LedLass I get where you're coming from. I too was mad about the Zep in my youth back in the early 70s and I too ditched them for years. Perhaps I thought they were old fashioned or something. Anyway call it a mid-life crisis thing if you will but I have rediscovered them and there is absolutely no comparison. They are, and always will be, the Gods of Rock.
Led Zepplin is awesome!!! But what the hell Johnex3303 music isnt watering down with bands like Atreyu, Slipknot, Blink 182, Shinedown, Foo Fighters, and many more! Jonas Bros, need to die though along with Soulja Boy but Panic isnt that bad. Just open yourself metaly and physically to music. ZEPPLIN!!
I am so happy that I was a teen in the 70's in lieu of now with all of that high school cheerleader hip hop, Jonas Bros., Panic at the Disco, Soulja Boy and the rest of today's watered down McMusic with no soul and depth. totally agree his rhythem playing was...out of the norm but so great...it was in another dimension...heh...Page playing with Tower of Power would have been....lol interesting!
Keith and John are good musicians. And they would have been good in Zeppelin. But I really don't think as good Jones or Bonham as far as Led Zeppelin goes. These four guys in Led Zeppelin had a musical connection that just came so naturally for them. They knew it right off the bat. Not always easy to connect musically like they did. Jimmy Page once said,"We had musical ESP when playing together."
hey lovelesschris sorry to hear about you being loveless, you must be living in toronto too, its "tadpole in a jar" a weak little tadpole is safe in a jar, a big strong lion could easily kill it but is to dumb to figure out how to get at it,the little guy in the jar is safe.
I think Jimmy Page makes every other so called guitarist look like a fool for even holding a guitar. He's simply the fucking best. It's not about technique. It's about emotion.
In which case, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton and numerous others have Page beat. Page is great, considered one of the best. But definetely not the best.
When the Gods of Rock hit the stage, there was not much need of editing, overdubbing and "have another try, please". Here it is: rough, sheer energy, made in Britain.

Jimmy Page has a wonderful sense of harmony.
As brilliant a soloist that he is his rhythm playing is top shelf.
Page could have played for James Brown, the Meters, Tower of Power ...on any fat back memphis, fame , Muscle Shoals session.
And JPJ and Bonham...play like 'those guys' guys.
Bernard Purdie, Al Jackson and duck dunn, Roger Hawkins and David Hood.
All the greatest British bands, Zep, the Stones, the Who, the Beatles. Them sumsabitches swing hard.
