He indeed does sound like a baritone with his deeper timbre. This piece usually calls for an extremely light touch (sospirato) at the end of the first stanza. Very well done, though.

I'm not an expert, but he does sound like a baritone with habilities in high notes. Great, powerful and deep voice and quite an experience to listen, but I don't think he is a Dramatic tenor either. His voice is just too deep, and that is what might classify him as a baritone, or we might invent another category of voice only for his case. :) None the less, he surely is one of the greatest singers of our time. You are quite correct in stating that Jonas Kaufmann is th best tenor in the world today. There is nobody who is as serious, versatile, stylish, handsome, dramatically and theatrically savvy before the public; he also happens to have a voice that reminds me of liush, dark velvet.

Creo que ni siquiera hace falta que te responda. Si puedes, infórmate tú, el mundo de la lírica es un compendio de mafias.. Con respecto a otros tenores spañoles por supuesto! Hay muchos y mejores que él, lo que pasa que hay mucho krausista que hace mucho mal a la lírica, por desgracia son bastantes en el mundo, pero vamos, son escoria.

Bueno... Jonas Kauffman no es un baritono. Simplemente que su voz es oscura por que el señor es uno de los pocos tenores dramaticos que existen en la actualidad.

Los tenores de mayor renombre podrian ser; principalmente Franco Corelli, Placido Domingo, Jose Cura y este joven tenor.

Solo que los tenores dramaticos se diferencian de los liricos y ligeros por lo oscura que es su voz..

Los tenores dramaticos son los mas potentes que puedan existir. Y se debe de tener un manejo muy bueno en cuestion de tecnica para durar como tal.

Si notas algo.... en esta aria se ejercen 2 Si bemol, esa es una not fuera de la escala musical de un baritono. Aqui el Si bemol es muy potente, muy brillante y muy sonoro.

A parte de todo eso, su fraseo era pésimo, y encima, él no tenía técnica, ni sabía enseñar técnica, prueba de ello es que dejaba mudos a todos sus alumnos. La realidad es que todos estos críticos que glorifican a Kraus y tiran a los que tienen una voz grande, el que más, canta en coro y no tiene voz ni para un cumpleaños feliz. Así que vamos... ni siquiera merece la pena hacerles caso a estos chikilicuatres.

Jesus loves me... Jonas kicks so much ass. I can't listen to this guy enough, and at this point in time I believe he's the best tenor out there. Galouzine is close but Kaufmann's musicality separates him from everyone.

Because Zurich has him locked up like a caged bird, but who wouldn't?? Also, he has a wife and two kids that live in Zurich. We can only hope he makes more appearances in the U.S. He is doing Tosca and Carmen next season at the Met i think.

En la actualidad no existe tenor con esa solvencia, con esa facilidad, con ese caudal sonoro, con ese fraseo, con ese estilo, con esa elegancia... etc

Y no es ni dramático ni lírico oscuro, es heldentenor.

Acepto tu concreción sobre su cuerda. Si es heldentenor... que hace cantando tosca, werther...? En todo caso, debería centrarse en papeles más propios de esa voz, quisiera oirlo, obviamente, en Otelo, pero también en una Norma o un Calaf. No obstante, dado ese grosor vocal, pudiera ser mejor que como tal heldentenor se circunscribiera al repertorio alemán.

En cualquier caso, puede que de los "actuales" heldentenors, él sea uno de los más destacados. Pero no es "el mejor tenor del mundo".

Por qué no va a poder cantar lo que le plazca? Sí es cierto que le discuten que tiene demasiado caudal sonoro, sin embargo, se permite filar notas que tenores ligeros no pueden, es un tenor fuera de lo común, un portento de la naturaleza y de la verdadera técnica. Tiene 39 años y está edad y facultades para cantar hasta Rigoletto (cosa que ya ha hecho con éxito) por lo que es lo mejor que hace.

Por otro lado me extraña que digas que deba ceñirse a un repertorio teniendo a Callas como favorita... Soprano que cantó todo tipo de repertorio.

En definitiva, dime un tenor que frasee, tenga su caudal sonoro, cante con esa elegancia... Dime si encuentras uno.

Puede cantar lo que le plazca, pero la voz no puede cantar lo que el cerebro (o el corazón) quiera/n. y si lo hace, hay tantísimos casos donde la voz acaba destrozándose.

Efectivamente, Callas se significó por tener un repertorio amplísimo, repertorio que se componía de varias óperas tal vez poco adecuadas a su voz. Pero, querido amigo, me temo que sobrevaloras en exceso a este tenor si crees que su voz y arte pueden "ya" asemejarse al de Callas.

Es un buen tenor, veremos mas adelante.
