My struggle was going in the opposite direction but I can totally empathize. I was 298 lb (about 140 kilos) at age 16, at a height of 5' 8" (about 1.73 meters). The weight reduction diet wasn't going to do everything, I knew that I would have to manage myself after I reached a safe weight and that the diet was only a tool.
After one year I lost 100 lb (50 kilos) and now, almost 9 years afterwards, I maintain a weight of 188-190 lb. Don't beat yourself up, accept what happened and move forward.
i had a feeding tube aswell, but i was in hospital with it and only had it for 9 weeks, i found it so much easier being tube fed, knowing i cant binge and i didnt worry about calories because i knew exactly what i had. i miss it but im just a fat bitch now who eats :/

I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I know there were girls in hospital for totally different reasons who never had an type ed and they stopped eating or even drinking water just so they could go on the tube or they only ate when no one was watching or on leave with parents. I know there was one she wasn't even underweight but she was on it first just to feed water. Then eventually they gave her cals to maintain her weight. But she was stilll never under.
Honestly I know alot of people with Ana and I also have issues. But we were all on tubes when we were underweight or some of us would get held down and bolus fed or people just did follow their meal plans. But once we got to the goal weight that was asked we started to either eat+drink supplements. Or I for instance stayed on just only supplements orally for ages. If you were seen with a tube or with the machine a your hospital goal weight, then people would think you were attention seeking.
i hope u feel better honey. recovery all the way!! tho have to say.... in australia this treatment would be unheard of. u suffered from anorexia- now they dont want you to eat and only have the NG feeds? seems a bit weird to me... if i was in ur situation i would find it triggering, thats all. all the best x
i have a feeding tube too, i just got one a few hours ago, the first round of ensure i threw up, now i just got my second tube connected to my ensure but at 1/2 can in 12hrs

I was just curious because I live in Portland (small world, I guess). I haven't been to that one, but I know several people who have, and I used to see a doctor who worked there.

Thanks for the update. You're right - the tube is only going to take care of physical hunger, not emotional hunger - which is usually a big deal for ppl with EDs. But that said, I really think that there is a huge benefit for your emotions/psychological side (as well as obviously physically) from receiving good, consistent nutrition over time. I know it can totally change the way you think and feel. Well done on persisting. It's not easy, and it's never going to be a smooth trajectory. x x x
@PixieEleven Thank you, yes you are totally right, the emotional hunger has to be taken care of from me and my work, not the tube. I also agree, I think that having the wrong nutrition can completely screw up your mind were as the right can be very beneficial.
