no, it's an optical effect that depends a lot on how clean it is the horizon, etc, and while some may claim to see "many times" no, not so easy to see and there are places where it is most probable.
@XjaxparrowX03 oh. you should go look for it. it's coooool... and not a myth. actually, just google it and find an info site. they scientifically explain it ;D
@XjaxparrowX03 ah! sorry...it's just so easy to assume that someone who doesnt love looking at the sunset is a dude :/ but then again, i'm a dude and i love looking at the sunset @_@ it so IS that great >:T
have you seen it? it's not like it is in potc, but it's still weird..
There are several videos here where it's difficult to see the green flash/ray- but i think this is a youtube problem, as i've checked Rohmer's film The Green Ray/Le Rayon Vert, which has a clear flash at the end but here on youtube in 2 postings the green is lost. Anyway, to see the ray/flash is a most wonderful thing
My wife and i were lucky enough to see it on holiday at Aruba several years ago, and it's brief but unmistakeable- a memory to cherish, the more so as we both love the film The Green Ray by Eric Rohmer, just hoped but never expected to see it. Unfortunately this video doesn't capture what we saw, a flash at the last moment as the sun dipped below the horizon.
It'd didn't show on the video, but I've seen it in person before. The sun setting over the water one of the many reasons why the pacific coast is so much better than the atlantic. Beaches back east are disgusting compared to west coast ones.
don't zoom in, just keep it at the maximum zoned out distance next time. Am I fucking blind?
