@wcbroccoli Who cares if they are just fads?! What I am trying to point out is that you are always trying to be better, more sophisticated, than the rest of the world just because you know and understand classical music. Haven't we already proved that with the composing of the music? Why do we have to act uptight and seclude ourselves from the rest of world? Secondly, listen to Maurice Ravel's "Daphnis et Chloe." it is a quiet, complex symphony with the most power I've ever seen.
I love your videos for adding a great visual experiance to beautiful music. I also think it's great that you have a mixture of the most famous music and other interesting pieces that are less well known.
@wcbroccoli (1. says the guy who says "wassup." (2. I play the flute my high school band, orchestra, my city youth symphony, and I've played in many quartets (in fact im working on a trio right now). i like symphonies because they are more powerful, complex, and (to me) more interesting than quartets. I do not have anything against people who like quartets, but that's just me. (3. why cant we use every day vocabulary? since when does listening to good classical music require a vocabulary?
@wcbroccoli First, I do not have a score to every piece Stephen so graciously puts on YouTube. Second, given the liberties of expression by the performer(s) there is no way to determine from a score how the performance is going to be phrased unless it is denoted on screen.
I think that the experience would be even better if there was a bar down the middle of the screen showing exactly where you are in the music. So you know exactly when the notes will start, end, etc.
I keep wondering how you do these videos. You have got to use some kind of software, because otherwise I can't even imagine the amount of work that it would take...
@mranderson762 In most of the piece, one instrument is imitating (repeating with or without variation) the motives (themes, melodies) that were previously played in another part. The balls highlight that material.

how come the circles and boxes are seperate but are used by the same instruments?
mranderson762 1 year ago
@mranderson762 circles are when the notes are hit and bars are how long the notes are thats why one instrument ha cirlces and bars
peter96 1 year ago
@mranderson762 The circles show the points of imitation.

@smalin what exactly does that mean?
