I once watched a mate of mine (who has been a professional player for 30 years) play this. He was just as fast and as far as I could tell had all the right notes in all the right places but he STILL didn't sound this good. I think that that shows that music is more about the feel than the notes. My friend has the technical skill but he hasn't got that illusive something that separates the good from the great. Stevie Ray had it in spades.
he used 11 gauge strings. everyone acts like he used biggers ones but no look it up he was using 12s and 13s but his friend and guitar tech told him to switch cause his fingers were sore
@fenderstratman120 No, on his main guitar he replaced the frets with bass frets and used 18 gauge strings. It is reported that he used thicker then that at time. He had one backup guitar with 13's for when his fingers were sore.

I once watched a mate of mine (who has been a professional player for 30 years) play this. He was just as fast and as far as I could tell had all the right notes in all the right places but he STILL didn't sound this good. I think that that shows that music is more about the feel than the notes. My friend has the technical skill but he hasn't got that illusive something that separates the good from the great. Stevie Ray had it in spades.

@fenderstratman120 No, on his main guitar he replaced the frets with bass frets and used 18 gauge strings. It is reported that he used thicker then that at time. He had one backup guitar with 13's for when his fingers were sore.
