@trithan1473 Actually it does, the point is to make contact on the edge and then angle the blade so it glaces off. due to the hardening procceses of katana making, the front is hard and brittle and the back is soft (like a shock absorber) if you block anywhere else but the cutting edge you are going to wreck you sword. you are thinking european sword fighting not oriental.

Nice post-process. It almost hide that awful choreography.

No doubt the sword were realy cheap. But the dent are not due to been cheap. It due to bashing the sword into each other.

Do not block with the edge on your next choreography. It break the sword, the flying off metal chip can go into a eye. And It is not realistic anyway...

this is not how you use a katana because a katana is mean to be used by both hands one pushing donw and one pulling up and u block with the unsharpened edge otherwise u screw up your blade just like you can see at :35

Usually it is a Wazikashi that you are supposed to use with a Katana... i can't see it precisely here because the image is not that good. I myself have a beautiful handmade katana that I bought in Japan 2 years ago. I'm training with it in Kendo :D .

That means pure choreography from the ground up with no room for improvisation or error. Everything has to be planned and calculated and rehearsed and rehearsed and rehearsed - slowly, slowly, slowly until every motion is absolutely certain - second nature - and then slowly speed can be added. Even with that, problems can still happen. And that has to be taken into consideration. Still, a much better looking sequence here than in many other places.

Reasonably well edited but from a fencing stand point - and this isn't just you guys, it's a lot of these vids - a lot of it is obvious sword to sword motion rather than sword to body. That is, it's reasonably clear that neither one intends to actually hit the other person. The swords are being swung to hits the other swords. This is the difficult part about faking swordplay. To be really realistic the movements have to look as though they would hit the opponent unless he or she prevents it.

(Katana's are the long ones, wakizashi the one you have),

each, and try basic sword swings and parries. Like the downward slash and foreparry. Not as epic, but looks professional if practiced. :/ With 2 swords it just looks like 2 adolescent kids playing around with weapons based on what they watch on TV. Not that I'm trying to insult you. :)
