Why are you saying that Cantonese is your native language when you are born in America? Wouldn't it be more accurate that English is your native language? Or did you learn Cantonese first and later English and therefore call it your native language?
Yes, my first language that I learned was Cantonese. I was raised here while both my parents didn't speak any English at the time. Therefore, Cantonese was the first language I learned and English came later when I attended school.
I am a Canadian born Chinese (CBC I guess? LOL), I just stumbled upon this video and thought it was really funny! I am fluent in English, and speak mostly Chinese to my parents but with some English incorporated into it. But my Chinese vocabulary is slowly dying as I learn more and more English. Great video, I had a fun time watching it.
Nice vid. but what you are accusing about chinese/cantonese is not true. chinese is a beautiful language. The poems, literature..... Anyone who receive formal chinese education(high school lv, in a chinese speaking country ofcuz) should be able to say what you described in your vid. Just FYI
You're absolutely right. Anyone who received formal Chinese education can easily say that phrase. However, my point is that as an American Born Chinese, it's hard for someone like me to say that phrase in Cantonese as opposed to English. I've never received formal Chinese education. I'm not accusing my Chinese/Cantonese language of anything. And yes, Chinese is indeed a beautiful language...I would never say otherwise.
