There seemed, sadly, some great brit comedy/character actors involved in this. Suppose they were compelled esp in the climate of a moribund industry, to live by some actorly maxim, viz. if you're offered work, *any* work, then it's worth doing; better to be 'in work than out of...lovey'. Interesting record of the era though - thanks for posting.

@pierstheoneandonly There was nothing doing in the British film industry back then except sex, horror and Bond. So you find great character actors like Le Mesurier, and wonderful leading actresses like Gaby Drake, in these, um, cheesy films. And Val Guest was a considerable director - he made Hell Is A City with Stanley Baker, and Jigsaw with Jack Warner, great British crime films. (Jigsaw is a police-procedural noir so stylishly pure it has no music - a simple trick few directors have tried.)

Yes a cheesy little film but quite fun, it has been released on dvd i have a copy got it of ebay it was worth it just for the scenes of Gabriel Drake naked and i mean completely naked.

Seems like the "thin end of the wedge" of pornography culture. Well, hard to say where "it " begins; maybe "French postcards" around World War 1 ... or just watching attractive women in summer dresses on a nice day. But at least the last one potentially isn't a sterile substitute for real relationships.

It bothers me to think that this sort of element was allowed into any part of British culture. Who produces these things?

Gabrielle Drake's legs probably make it worth seeing - otherwise, the usual drek that the dying British film industry was churning out then. For those of us old enough to remember the early 70s this was typical of the crap entertainment thrust at us.

@cosycleaner yep def worth it for the stunning amazon Gabrille, a real beauty actually, god those films of the early 70's all the soft porn stuff. cinemas were closing all over the uk in those days due to the colossal rise of tv, audiences of 16 or 17 million for tv comedies and game shows were common. to try and get trade cinemas showed cheap soft porn stuff, 'confessions of etc' it was usual to get some quite 'respectable' aged actors slobbering over the girls. Curious era indeed
