  • @PinkCupcake10 Icing is a kind of general term used to refer to something covering the cake. So technically the icing in the frosting bags was buttercream :D

  • On your BC recipe, I need a white white icing......can I leave the butter out and add more shortening? If so, would I add 22Tbsp.? Would I just add butter flavoring?

  • You'd want to use a whole 2 cups of shortening, instead of 2/3 c.

  • Can I use all shortening for the buttercream icing? Do I just add butter flavoring to get the buttery taste? I need the icing to be really white.... I'm doing a wedding cake in a few weeks.

  • You can use all shortening but the taste won't be the same and shortening tends to leave a greasy coating in the mouth.

    I have a question.  I am creating an artificial wedding cake for a friend. This I can be as crazy creative as I want to be, so lookin forward to it. Roses on the cake made of gum paste. The cake done with Royal icing. "How do I adhere gumpaste roses to Royal Icing. If i put a glob of fresh royal icing on, then stick on the rose to it, will it hold? Or must I use white chocolate?

  • Thank you, lol-this is why I did it in buttercream. I've seen this style done hundreds of times with fondant but I wanted to show that it could be done in buttercream too :D

  • Thank you! Mine is a Wilton brand turntable and I personally love it but I know some people have had problems. If you do buy it, keep the receipt, when you get it home place some heavy on it and give it a spin. If it wobbles or you have any trouble just take it back. lol-I hope this helps :D

  • Have you seen my video showing 3 ways to do a rose? That might help, part of getting a rose right is the angle of the tip and also how stiff the frosting is...

    I did.. saw your 3 ways to do a rose... they looked so easy but when I tried..he..he.. :(( ... I used "wilton's recipe - the stiff one" hemm.. In summer.. it's getting soft so easy.. weather ++ the heat of my hand... and in winter time... when I move to dining room where I decorate my cake... hemm.. it's getting hard.. 'cos it's colder @ my dining room than @ kitchen... In the kitchen too small and can't watch out my girl huhuhu
