I used to rinse my rice.. Now I don't.. the rice comes out more fluffy when it's not rinsed. but not all rice can be cooked the same..I cook mine for 15 minutes.less if i'm making fried rice.
Na+ (salt) is an ion. Thats what she means. You need a little salt for your rice to turn out right. I think it has something to do with getting the rice to take up the water and swell.
The first time I ever made rice it was crunchy on the inside and gloppy on the outside. All because I followed the directions on the package. How lame is that??
That looks good, I'll have to try it that way next time. ^_^
I did the same thing. First time I made rice I did it by package directions. Ick. this way was taught to me by a guy I dated who was raised in Taiwan.
I was in total agreement, untill you put butter in it... I suppose American and European tastes differ, a bit. I would never add fat to rice but I do add a little olive oil to pasta when I cook it.

I do eat it plain or with some broth on it, but for lunch I had it with some butter salt and pepper on it, and some tuna on the side.

Always freaks me out when someone can't make plain old rice. It is soooo simple!
