OK to u people that r saying that the first Pokemon episode had ash watching a battle between a gengar and nidorino, I'm pretty sure it was a battle between onix and gengar :\
It is ok the way it is, It is just I always wondered why these two pokemon instead of more common ones like rattata, pikachu, Pigdeotto or the Kanto starters...
I don't shun the new pokemon, but if im starting a pokemon adventure, there better friggin be either charmander, bulbasaur, or squirtle to choose from! (or pikachu or eevee) :D
Everyone has their favorites, you can't change that. So everyone just calm down and respect what others like. I, myself like all 649, but my overall favorite would be Gen 1 Pokemon, mostly because I wear nostalgia goggles half of the time. What are you gonna do about it? Yell at me for favoring one thing more than another? Like that will change anything. With that being said, the new Pokemon a'int so bad. New type combos, new evos, new designs etc. People should just take it as it is.
You know, I have a feeling that Gengar win against Nidorino... Especially since Nidorino was about to physically attack Gengar.. -_- What a stupid Nidorino..
@GraeSkiesSiastra Actually Gengar CAN be hit with physical attacks. It gains a solid form after evolution from Haunter. You must not remember too much from the game. Besides, if Gengar weren't able to be hit by physical attacks, then it wouldn't be able to use a move like scratch.
Depends what physical attack Nidorinos using. I think the move would only make sense if he used Peck...and maybe what Gengar used was Shadow Punch. I dnt remember Gengar using Scratch...
@Ichigo1141 This is pretty old, but that isn't true. Gengar is the same type as Haunter, which is Ghost/Poison. It is completely unaffected by Normal, Fighting, and Ground attacks. Also it doesn't seem to learn Scratch.
Old pokemon are NOT better. Theres so many new ones that joined my list of favorite pokemon. Your simply suffering from stupid nostalgia which blinds people from wanting to try new stuff and give new things a chance.
Honestly, not all old pokemon were even cool. Remember SEEL? Oh how original....a Seal thats called Seel. The ONLY thing better about the old pokemon was the TV show and movies. It was legitimately better than the stuff they show today. Like critic wise its better.
Agreed. I'm a late comer to the series and I played the old Pokemon games after playing the new ones. Truthfully it wasn't better than the new ones. Its seriously just people and their stupid nostalgia.
@bombkirby Shut up, dumbass. If you have no appriceaccion for the good old games, then just shut up get ouy. No one likes people who sit there playing Pokemon Platinum thinking, " Wow! This was my first pokemon game. I miss it so much." Stupid 3-year-old.
@LiveWireCo Guess what? No one like nostalgiafags either, and many fans hate them more than the type you're criticizing.
Also, "Stupid 3-year-old"? Y'know, you don't HAVE to play Pokemon from the time you can hold a game. A teenager can go, "Why are these games so popular?", pick up the newest version, and fall in love with it.
As for Platnuim, graphics aside for obvious reasons, Superior story, Superior pokemon design, Superior villains (Generic doomsday for no original reason ....Cutoff
@LiveWireCo vs. those who want to destroy the universe and create a new one without emotion. latter=Much more threatening) , Superior gameplay...Platinum is a really good game, better than those.
And, since I have the time, imagine that Black and White, in Gameboy quality, graphics, sound, and all, came out in 1998 as the series's first games. Got that? Well, Red and Blue, full DS quality, came out a few months ago.
Five bucks on people bitching about things like Ditto and Grimer/Muk ,...cutoff
@LiveWireCo (Ex: "A pink wad with a smiley and a pile of sludge that evolves into a bigger pile of sludge!") and the punny names, (ex: Mr. Mime, Squirtle, Seel, Bulbasuar...)ignoring the fact that B/W had their far share of those names, and bashing people for liking new games.
And before you call me a child with "no appreciation for the good old games," I managed to get my hands on a copy of Red in 2003, shortly after getting Sa. as my first. To date, I've beaten it 4 times. It's fun, kind of.
@bombkirby Exactly. Haters like that ("old pokemon are better! New games suck! So unoroginal! They're running out of ideas!" etc.) piss me off too. They don't have new ideas? Hey, they created 649 different monsters and every one of them (excluding minun/plusle) are UNIQUE and interesting. They are all based on something, you people are just too lazy to do some research and find out what they represent, that's why you call them stupid and lame - because you don't understand them.
@Zakuzelo Well, it's Pokedex entry states that it's a Pig Monkey. You could say that it's based on a baboon, but in the end, it's the same for Vanillite - I'd say they're based on icicles, not ice creams only.
@dzibanszi I'm sorry but there's WAY too many Pokemon now to remember each and every single one of them. I prefer the first two generations over the new stuff that they have now because they were easy to remember and they look much more better.. Also, if you carefully look at the new pokemon that they have now, it's pretty much just recycled pokemon from the first 2 generations and/or rip offs from Yugioh.
cool argument, but i disagree. sure not 100% of the old pokemon were completely awesome, but if i were to name the pokemon in order of my favority, the top 150 slots would be like 90% 1st gen pokemon. (soodowoodo and shuckle are my favorite non-1st gen)
@bombkirby Seriously? LOL. The old pokemon were MUCH better than the new ones they have now. At least the first two generations of pokemon were easy to remember and didn't have difficult, forgettable names like for example: Cofagrigus. Wtf? Oh, and Seel? hm, i don't know, let's see... does Krookodile ring any bells? Crocodile = Krookodile. Yeah. How original.
@snes101 In fact, they done the first episode of the anime as the start of pokemon red/blue, it was ash watching a battle between a gengar and nidorino
The anime was created after the first games (Blue and Green in Japan, Blue and Red in the western world). If you watch the very first episode of the anime it actually shows this Gameboy intro and then the black and white pixel Pokémon transform into the drawn anime ones and that is the battle you see in the beginning of the first episode! Also you hear the Gameboy music turning into orchestra music it's a great intro: /watch?v=MwxXTf_Ctrw
