I just love a great massive distortion fun pedal and this puppy kills a Metal Zone, and it is true bypass and 15v internal voltage boost. I love my expensive Wampler pedals but for a $100 bucks these Hardwire Pedals are grossly underrated. If you can dial in a heavy low end not too fizzy gain wash on a Zone you will love this pedal, so much better.

ok.. a friend gave me one of these and he said he didn't have a power chord.. I found that it can take a 9v battery.. but the new battery doesn't give it power.. what could be wrong with it? it is a possibility that he may have destroyed it by plugging numerous over powerful power chords into it.. is there any way I can get this thing fixed? or send it off to get it fixed? if anyone has any information I would really really appreciate it! please and thank you!

Wonderful pedal. First off it's analog, so no one better complain about it sounding "digital" when it isn't. Second, it's quiet, in terms of feedback. Third, lots of distortion to mess around with. The eq is pretty amazing, but honestly, you will only like one setting, tight or loose. Not both. I prefer tight since I can't get any good palm mutes with loose. And harmonics are terrible with loose also.

Push the pins in on the sides of the pedal to release the latch snaps back into place. After you have been playing a few years you need to work on getting a good power supply and forget batteries.

@BassManCoopz I'm no expert at all but I can think of two possible problems that you've probably already checked. One: there's no chord plugged into the input, or Two: the led is blown. or as you said It's probably a battery problem. There really isn't a reliable 9v battery for use with guitar effects. In what experience I've had, they tend to die out very quickly.

I really like this pedal. Very responsive for me. I play one through the clean channel of a bugera 6260 and it I think it sounds great. Is there better pedals out there? Probably. I try to really listen instead of paying attention to the name on equipment. Let your ears decide. I picked mine up for $50 bucks at a pawn shop. If you can find a used one definitely try it out.

I get a kick out of people who claim "insert pedal here IS BETTER THAN THIS." Ears aren't shared and last time I checked, I'm not leaning on some other goober to decide if a pedal is good or not. I'll get a brief synopsis on the 'tube here and then go try it out for myself. I did. It smokes. It might be choco-covered crap for the next guy in line to try it but for me, it delivered. I actually think all distortion pedal sucks. The best distortion you can get will always come from your amplifier. I've never seen any pro guitarist use a distortion pedal with high end amplifiers, only OD pedals to tighten the sound.

Also, Boss Metalzone isn't any better than this imo, but it's just my taste, I don't like crunchy over gain pedals that all "metal" tagged pedals gives.

A minor request if you don't mind - What happens if you have the treble and the gain cranked up to the maximum level while everything else is adjusted to fit the tight setting? I don't just aim for maximum gain like the others - I also aim for maximum treble so I can keep it "thin and tight" while going over the top on the gain.

I'm still not sure if the pedal is for me. I'm gonna have to play though it first. I own the hardwire delay, and it's never let me down. If I had the dough, I'd get the chorus, and the reverb too. I don't strictly need a metal dist, but eventually I might get one. Anyone who is against Hardwire "because digitech sucks" obviously, doesn't use their ears when playing music. There's also A high likely hood that they use boss. <_< The hardwire line is nothing but quality.

@Grecian92 Thats right, I have this pedal and it is amazing, with this pedal I can get sounds from metallica, megadeth, slayer, bullet for my valentine, killswitch engage, well all type of metal. But there is two things that I dont like from this pedal:

1: Use it with low GAIN

2: The loose mode sucks (my opinion)

@mick00guitarplayer If you only use batteries in your pedals than it is a must that when you aren't playing you turn the pedal off, then unplug the input and output chords. Because if they are still plugged in they will still drain the battery. It should be much longer if you do this. Hope that helps!

Boss create good pedals, too. But the problem is that they aren't made for us metalheads :'D This one is just awesome, it CAN create the early Metallica guitar tone, and possibly the 90's and Magnetic sound, if you know how to listen to the guitars, and how to tweak your amps.
